Well the day has finally arrived... my granddaughters and I are finally going on the long awaited camping trip to Sunset State Beach here in Northern CA! We go every year, it's a family tradition! We are leaving around noon, picking up my other granddaughter Ashley and then going to WalMart to get our groceries and supplies for the 4 day adventure. Check in time is at 2:00, but they are pretty cool and let us check in before that. Setting up camp is usually an adventure in itself! We all have seperate little tents and some of us are better at setting up the tent than others (and it's not me) and she ends up pretty much assisting us with our tents after hers is up! We all pitch in and get the camp to our liking. I'm usually in charge of starting and taking care of the fire.... my Girlscout back ground helps with that! I used to be good with tents too, but I guess you forget those things as you get older! Senior moments galore! LOL..... We love camping at Sunset, the ocean is just a sand dune away. If you walk up the stairs to the top of the dune you have a beautiful suprise! And it is beautiful! It is pretty much a private beach for Sunset Campgrounds, although people do come out for just the day. Most people find other beaches to visit though, because there is a fee to get in to Sunset. This campgrounds is so popular that you have to make your reservations months in advance. They start taking reservations 6 months in advance to the date you want to camp! And the spots go FAST! One thing about camping at the beach is that it gets downright cold at night! You have to bring warm clothes or you freeze you patootie off! Most of the time it only gets into the 60's during the day, even if it is hot inland! That's what's soooo cool about camping near the beach, you can get away from the heat of summer. I'm going to take my camera and get lots of beautiful photos! Great sunsets for sure! Here's a photo that shows you a sample of what we will be doing:

We'll be back on the 2nd of August.... so I won't be here at Gather until then.... I'll miss you all but I'm NOT taking my laptop! I doubt I'd be able to connect to the internet even if I did.... the campground I am sure doesn't have wireless capacity! "See" you all soon!
