Here are a few variations on a theme. A seashell was shot from different angles and different effects were used in a photo program. I know it would be more helpful to tell you what effects were used on what photos but these were in some old files of mine and I didn't record such things back then.
I like the second one the best.

Photos that are a bit out of focus (if not able to salvage by adding sharpness) can be altered with the various photoshop tools (Oil, watercolor, charcoal) to
make acceptable images;-))

Penna has very good point-- takie your time with a shell and use it on a table or surface against a wall where the light refracts
and then add other objects to it to create still life. you'll be very surprised how interesting something simple can be and your own skills as a photographer.
