generally--the picture must be taken on 7 January wherever you are.
your camera must be digital and dated to correct time.
you must register with Photography Voice--which is free.
when your image is submitted for the contest, the uploader extracts the EXIF information from the digital file and you must verify its accuracy.
And anything else you want to know, you can learn by reading the official rules.
please pay attention to the size of the file and other technical information.
and take a look in the archives for some really amazing photographers to become inspired. I'm there, too, but not sure how inspiring that is, but there are many others who will definitely provide a proper sense of respect and awe for their skills.

and there are some very good phtographers in that forum, so join in because he has a normal classification for flowers and plants and nothing like having your work rcognized and being able to say you had a prize for a m picture.

and so I spend nearly all my time in serious photography forums now and come into Gather when it is accessible to upload images-- you only hve so much time in life and better to do that which is constructive and takes you forward, even if a step at a time.
