Red Moon Tribe is in the news! Zivah and the Tribe are being interviewed for a June issue of the Community Free Press. This bi-weekly local paper covers news and events in Springfield and the Ozarks and will feature us in the Community section, I'm told.
Also, the Tribe has a brand new guest dancer--and he's our first ever male dancer! Darius is new to bellydance, but not to dancing or performing, and the Tribe has enjoyed working him into our upcoming renaissance faire shows. Darius will be participating in some group dances, dancing the masculine version of bellydance (beledi, after all, *is* a folk dance, and does include men), performing a duet with Myska, and adding to our repertoire with his own version of sword and drumming! Be sure to come see us at the White Hart Renaissance Faire for his on-stage debut!
And last but not least, RMT finally has our very own band of musicians! We are thrilled to have live drummers (they are so much better than dead ones, lol) accompanying us for our Faire shows this year. Our musicians are John (Z's hubby), Kevin (Ananya's hubby), John (Z's oldest son) and Sean (Zivah's youngest and also a sword dancer with the Tribe). They have jokingly named themselves "Percussionally Challenged"--but don't let that fool you! John has over 30 years of experience as a musician, starting out with classical piano, moving on to guitar and then bass. He's taken to Middle Eastern drumming like a duck to water and the entire band has been practicing together every chance they get. UPDATE: They settled on their new band name: "Kabila Za'og" which means "husband of the Tribe"! :) Come see us at the White Hart Faire to hear a unique and exciting new Middle Eastern ensemble, with various guest musicians every weekend!
