Do you remember when you were a kid and received something in the mail? Oh, what a happy day that was for me living out in the country and receiving personal mail. Since I was a child, I've saved every post card that I was sent. My parents let me have the ones they received as well. I still appreciate all forms of communication. I love the fact that someone is thinking enough about me to write a note, put a stamp on it and walk to the post office!
I recall moving into this house and finding a whole album filled with post cards from the early 1900's. These were from one or two family members so it made reading the cards quite interesting. I have lovingly saved all these cards and look at them often. What a beautiful and different time that was - right after the Victorian era - before the onset of World War One.

These cards were written between 1902 to around 1910. I think possibly John went into the service then and Maude may have made another album. I do not know but I hope someday I'll find out the rest of the story!

This was an Easter Greeting.

Another Easter Greeting - Same family
The Victorian era cards are some of the best. Many flowers were used and each flower had a special meaning.

The Schmidt family loved to communicate and were well-travelled. I have a whole album of post cards written by family members. Many were sent from other countries.

Do you collect Post Cards or enjoy looking at them? I would love to hear about your earliest forms of written communication. Thank you. Salud.

These are beautiful. thank you for sharing and Happy Easter.
A cool article and great memory jogger. The Easter Egg with the little chicks is my favorite. I remember the one cent stamps on old timey cards my grandmother had.
