Our April Cash Option go-getters list *archive*

Hello everyone!

I've been on the cash option for over a year now and it helps my family out a lot since I am a stay at home mom. Being on one income is financially tough, but being able to stay at home with my 3 boys makes it worth it. Medical conditions forced me to make the decision to stay at home, so I'm making the most of it by participating online, earning a little here and a little there to get by.

We all have our own stories and we would all like to receive cash from Gather instead of gift cards for different reasons. I decided this month I'd search for all the people who have openly said they want to be invited to the cash option and then post the list for all to see in case they'd like to visit their content and get to know them better.

I think the best way to earn the required points in one calendar month is to honestly not think about it. You certainly don't want to upset anyone by posting one or two word, generic comments all over the place and no one really likes to see all those 'fluff' articles. Just do what YOU enjoy doing, put some thought into your Gather actions, support your friends and use Gather in a way that makes you happy. Make sure to visit things that interest you and post things that you think will interest others. :o)

I think Tina is shooting for the cash option this month as well. She was working for it last month, but had a week or so of not really participating, so I don't think she earned it.

Tiffany... I completely understand what you mean. I understand that it bothers you that you help people and don't get anything in return. I actually just like to help people and don't really care if I get anything back. I'm already on the cash option and I am focusing on helping others this month because not only my neighbor Carla is on that list, but Heather is too and she used to be my best friend in high school. So there are people in my 'real life' that I am trying to help this month and I figured why not post a list with everyone else on it that has the same goal this month? I just figured that if I'm going to be out and about commenting, I might as well be commenting to people who can really use the money or benefits that Gather offers.

I'm not sure if they post a list though every month like this, or if it's just a place where people can post their content if they are trying to reach the 3125 point mark. I guess I'll go check it out now and see if there's any way I can help that group out from now on. I really like to be able to do this for people.

The gift cards help and Gather is great in that they deliver . . . but I've been where I had enough points for the cash option and waited 4 months without an invite! I would prefer the cash option -- we really could use the extra income, but if I have to settle for gc's, I'll take it either way.

I know Austin Cushing has some cool groups that focus on comment and ratings boosts, so maybe it is him who owns the group that focuses on getting people to the cash goal. I'm on my way to research it all out now.....

Hi Mary - that's so odd that they never sent you an invitation to the cash program. Have you checked to make sure that your email address is current and up to date or your email program didn't block the email from them? I'm only asking because sometimes that is the answer. Other than that, you can always contact them and ask them to check into things or tell you why you weren't eligible for it. I hope it works out for you and I'll add you to this list!

Jennifer - so glad you agree, because that's exactly how I feel. I just think that as long as you don't focus on getting the points and you just do what you like to do here... look at things that interest you and post interesting things, then it all works out for the best.

Guess I should have done some research before posting this article because I found quite a few different 3000 points groups with over 100 members each!

Austin Cushing owns http://breaking3000.gather.com and has posted some informative articles about this particular goal.

Jill owns http://showmethemoney.gather.com and http://cashhunters.gather.com where members can post articles to get to that goal.

Sara owns http://monkey3000.gather.com, Beth owns http://together3000.gather.com and then there's Leanne who owns http://allaboutthe3000.gather.com.

It doesn't look like any of those groups have posted a recent list of members trying for this option, so I'm happy to report that I didn't step on anyone's toes! :o)

Please post your content to any of those groups above though and hopefully since the member's of those groups know any content is there for that reason, you'll receive extra attention.

Faith, I would love to get the cash option, but I can only get on Gather regularly three days a week. I know that probably is not near the commitment I need to get the cash option.

I wish everyone here good luck. If you're my connection and post daily, every time I get on I try to go back at least 24 hours and comment on your stuff. I'm not perfect at it. I don't get notifications because I don't have time to read them AND read and comment on your work.

I would love to get the cash option but they say $50 in one month and I don't know how you determine that. Also they don't tell how much you get; they say it is at their "discretion"

Hi Fern - It takes 62.5 points to equal $1 here at Gather, so it would take 3125 points earned in one calendar month to be eligible for the cash option. It also says it's at their discretion because they review your earnings to determine if you've earned them according to the terms of service before allowing you to receive the cash option. Occasionally people earn points fraudulently by different means, so this is why they need the review.

Once you are on the cash option, you can cash out at any time either by check or PayPal payment, you don't have to continue earning at least $50 a month to still be eligible for it, and Gather reports any earnings over $600 a year either in gift cards or cash so you will be taxed on it.

I hope that helps and if you ever decide that you want to try for the cash option, will you please let me know so I can add you to the list? I think I am going to post a brand new list every month.

I went hunting for the Striving for 3000 group and finally found info about it. She'd turned it private for various reasons and then had trouble getting it back to public.....now she's decided to keep it private. I asked for an invite and got it. Check out details here:
