If you're a member of Boomertowne already or have been thinking about joining Boomertown and have wondered just how much your time is worth, then here are some calculations I've made.
BT recently made some changes, and I'll specifically talk about how this affects me, then you can do the calculations yourself factoring in how much time it takes you to earn the maximum points per day for the prizes you're trying to reach.
There are 2 major changes in my eyes:
- It now takes 25,125 points for each $50 visa card instead of 20,100 points.
- You can now earn 1500 points a day, instead of 1000 a day.
It takes me 20 minutes to earn 1000 points, so prior to the catalog change I was getting $50 every 21 days. $50 divided by 420 minutes (7 hrs) = $7.14 an hour. This is what I was making prior to the change.
Since they've increased the cap to 1500 points per day, I will be on BT for 30 minutes a day instead of 20 minutes. It now takes 25,125 to earn a $50 visa card., so although it will now only take 17 days to earn a $50 visa card, I'll be spending more time to get that $50. $50 divided by 510 minutes (8.5 hours) = $5.88 an hour. This is what I'll be making now.
Sure, you can get prizes in fewer days, but you're spending more time each day to get those prizes.
This is still very easy money to me since I am a stay at home mom and I don't have to pay for daycare or gas to get to work.
I hope this helps answer some questions you might have about how these catalog changes will affect you and your specific reasons for being on Boomertowne. Thanks for reading!

Faith I get it- I do the same thing. That is the only reason I keep doing it because I don't work. I am one of those people who get bored if I am not doing 4 or 5 things at a time so it just bores me to the point sometimes tht I just say forget it for today. Lately I have found that I seem to have less time though. I have two teenagers which sometimes just suck the life out of you( that is a joke... sort of) and my 8 month old is not wanting to nap lately.
We have a Wii, bought one for the kids 2 years ago for Christmas and I tell you what: saving points on boomertowne sounds a lot better than standing out in freezing weather for 2 hours to get one like I did!
The Wii is a lot of fun, so I hope you're able to get one.

Since I want the Visa cards to be used for a vacation, I wanted to ensure that I get the most possible before it's too late for them to arrive in time. They don't say whether the cards are reloadable.
By the end of April, if I earn 1500 pts per day for 6 days a week (I figure there will be times I don't get it all, or am not home to earn it, hence 1 day off per week), I'll have a $250 card by the end of April.
Also my points jumped up like 3000 points from this morning.
On the left hand side of the page, there is a 'Catalog' link and you'll get to a page that shows:
BoomerTowne Catalog By Points
* Less than 10,000 BoomerTowne Points >
* 10,000–49,999 BoomerTowne Points >
* 50,000–99,999 BoomerTowne Points >
* 100,000–199,999 BoomerTowne Points >
* 200,000–299,999 BoomerTowne Points >
* 300,000+ BoomerTowne Points >
Then you can click on each one of those links and it will show you what is available in each one of those point levels!
I do agree that it's super boring though. If it weren't for the prizes, I would NOT be a member of boomertowne!
I think I will, so be looking for me....if you don't get enough of me here....LOL
To get 500 points I have to play each game once, rate 7 pages of jokes and 4 pages of quotes along with a couple of discussion board posts.
I think I'll make more at Gather as far as gift cards but it would be nice to get the Target or Visa once in awhile too.
I actually like some of the features there. For example the games and puzzles sections are great. I hope we will have some similar games on Gather in the future. :)
I've been able to make a lot of points by requesting connections with others, clicking on the videos and sending messages to my friends. I hope that helps, but I tell ya - getting that extra 500 a day is draining!
I just can't stand spending that much time on there! I get distracted with other more interesting stuff!
