Honestly, I clicked on this article because I figured they were trying to make travel even more difficult for me. HA! Not for me, but certainly for everyone else in America.

The gist is: The American government wants to force states to issue new driver's licenses to everyone that are checked by the government. Unless you never plan on getting on and airplane. If you don't want to fly then you have nothing to worry about except that since at east some of the people in your state will want to fly and use their driver's license as ID then everyone will have to have the new licenses anyway. These will no doubt cost more because there will be a whole other layer or two of bureaucracy involved, i.e. bigger government. This is brought to you by the Republicans (who are always screaming about smaller government) in the name of national security (the boogey man du jour) because one of the terrorists who flew a plane into the Pentagon had driver's licenses from 4 different states.
This, folks, is what the Nazi's did. They issued national identification so they could keep track of everyone, especially undesirables like Jews, gays, the handicapped, gypsies and anyone who didn't agree with them. Those papers were later used to start rounding people up so they could be sent to camps "for their own safety." They were also used for rationing. Heck, the Communists expanded the whole process so they would know who should get better perks and what the bribe scale should be.
This really doesn't effect me and I do normally stay out of these things because it's just so volatile and I'm not that argumentative. I've done so much international travel that my passport is always at hand anyway. My Ohio driver's license expires on my birthday in 2009 so the dust should have settle by then anyway. Plus, I'm going to South America for at least the next year. And since I have traveled so much and spent so much time in a "war zone" that I'm being watched anyway.
But I am starting to worry about my library cards. You know, I have a couple of those from different libraries and Im not sure where they all are right now. Things could get ugly if they come looking for me?

Big Brother is watching...
I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future they will make mandatory a chip for each citizen to squelch the problem of illegal aliens. You won't be able to hold down a job unless you present yourself and receive your chip. No job, how will we buy or sell? Or perhaps, the new drivers license will have a chip that can be monitored from space. The land of the brave and free.
I recall a song a friend of mine wrote back in the mid sixties. It stated, "Which way America? Which way America? Which way you go? This is my country and I've just got to know. Which way America is going? I imagine today he would turn over in his grave.
