A lot depends on circumstance, and a lot depends upon the children themselves, but some people are ill-eauipped to be parents at all, let alone good parents.
An important reminder delightfully displayed, Dawn. A mother was called to school because of some language her son had used. In telling about it, she said, "Where the f--- does he get that s---?
thank you john. you're right. they get it from the ones that the parents would least expect. themselves. I have a friend who has a little boy. he won't quit cussing. one day she finally asked him if he's learning it at school. the little boy said from mom and dad. his mom and dad cuss around him all the time and wonder where the child gets it from. children mimic everything they see their parents do and say.
I learned, strangely, apparently I was always an 'old soul', from both of my parents, but I learned what I didn't want to be like. Yes, backwards, I know, but it depends on the circumstances - everyone, including you, is right about that.
So, when I had Dave, I already knew that abuse was wrong, following in the footsteps of people that hurt me, was also wrong. Odd, maybe, but we're still all very close and love unconditionally - no matter what. That's to say, Dave, Mark and I - my parents passed away years ago.

This is featured in the group, Our Neighborhood,
because if we all lived there, we'd all be helping out, keeping that wide-eyed innocence alive in children.
Thank, Dawn,
