Suddenly, slowly, a sick and sad feeling, impossibly seething, enters my mind
Remains of December lay dying in embers, a winter unkind.
The sweet times remembered have now just surrendered, the bird it takes flight
Old Tannenbaum's splendor reduced into splinters, a thief in the night
Has replaced Good Saint Nick with garbage to pick, unsightly blight
The gifts past delivered, all packed up, we shiver, awaiting our fate
Our ground has browned over, snow gone, its white cover once fluffy and great.
And so starts the sojourn, from yesterday's clover, to parts so unknown
Filled into new diaries, our spirits retiring like fireplace gnomes
Left hanging like ornaments on this gloomy firmament, awaiting the dawn
For the next sweet season, one ends with no reason, no rhyme -- it has gone.
Don't let it grow dormant, our love, we adored it, take it in hand
Not something discarded, but newly awarded, together we'll stand
To dig a new dream here, from ashes and sweet tears, so much we can share
We waved our goodbyes there, but promises so rare, don't come without care.
Break off from the past now, the calendar's time plow has shown us the way.
My season's end, arrive as a friend --
Erase my mistakes and all that is fake, we'll make it again
Long lost love can enter, this strange warming winter --
The birds say it's so.
They follow their own way, and point to a new day --
A life without woe.
