My book review of BAD MOVIES by that fabulous PJS

It's just super !!!

 

It's just exciting !!!

 

It's by PJS (so it's just fabulous) !!!

 

Bad Movies is a super great novel that takes place in the amazing time of the mid-70s.

 

It is all about Jill, a sex-change in denial (your favorite kind of character for stories!).

 

Jill buses west with the hope of becoming a star. She meets an aspiring gay photographer, Andernach, who instigates her discovery at a pool party. That's all too much fun to read, to even be able to describe !!!

Jill pratfalls into a frenzy of tacky guerrilla film making, leaves her bonehead nudist boyfriend (who thought he was her manager) to live with a grand sex-change—not in denial—but dying of liver cancer.  And then it gets crazy !!!

Jilly's cult fame finally allows her to save an elderly reclusive silent-movie glamour-queen from her hallucinations. A drag queen sewing circle gets her to a big gay bar, and her ensuing stand-up comedy and bad tabloid press lands her the underdog role in a major studio comedy.

 

There's drugs, booze, naked people, hairpieces, duct tape, and sex ... and an earthquake.  And disco !!!

 

All the while bullets fly, as a mysterious man in an assortment of rubber monster masks stalks Jilly and the members of her new studio family.  So it's also a who-dunnit, in that special PJS sort of way.

 

It's a super dooper finish to the three novel set - The Tinseltown Trilogy: Hollywood Sinners, The Joan Crawford Murders, and Bad Movies !!!

 

Read it all or else you'll really have no idea what it's all about !!!

Oh Peter....My sister was the queen of macrame. She's 10 years older than me and she macrame'd me...I had macrame handbags and hairbows. I hate the stuff.

Thank GOD it is no longer all over our walls impersonating objects, like sharks, owls, butterflies, and stuff !!!

(remember in the 70s when everything was sharks for awhile ???)

IF you want to go forward in time - otherwise you can read them in the other order and go backwards in time ...
