Weird Al - the 'White And Nerdy' 'Genius in France' has been making us laugh with his wild hair and his crazy accordion playing for over twenty-five years now. Yankovic, 47, has recorded over 150 parody and original songs.
But did you know he's also a three-time Grammy winner (out of nine nominations)? He also has three gold and five platinum records - that's some serious impact for a funny guy!
Al's also written (and starred in) his own movie and television show. He's directed his own music videos, and videos for other bands (Ben Folds, Hanson). He's even guest starred on The Simpsons!
Currently, there's a campaign to raise money to buy Weird Al a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
To me, Weird Al provides us with an opportunity to take life a little less seriously. When times are hard, and days are stressful, he gives us a reason to laugh. And there's certainly something to be said for that.

I did think it was humorously sad at the last concert of his I attended when he closed out the encore with "Yoda" and after the house lights came back up after the show I overheard a very young boy (probably around 7-9 years of age) turn to his dad (presumably) and in an excited voice explain how much he was looking forward to getting Al's new album with that cool new song about Yoda on it! (This was at his tour promoting his "Bad Hair Day" album released in 1996. "Yoda" on his famous "Dare to be Stupid" album was released in 1990 and the kid just heard it for the first time. Too much Coolio on MTV for that little boy!
Thanks for giving props to such a deserving artist as "Weird Al" Yankovic.

He's one of my top friends on my MySpace list and has been for awhile. It's too bad his "Straight Out Of Lynnwood album didn't win. He was having people send positive thoughts for four months to the Grammy people in hopes that the album would get enough votes.
Rock on!
Did you see the video that Starred Donny Osmond , now that was fantastic and Donny was so funny in it with all his groovy dance moves
Praise AL !!
