When I was growing up, as a teenager, there was an awesome place for me to go too. It was a dance club for teenagers called "The Terrace Room". I absolutely loved that place. They always had the newest music, and I loved dancing. I could totally lose myself to the beat. I would start dancing with a group of friends, and suddenly realize that I was dancing with a different group of friends. Sometimes even people I didn't know. (no, I did not do drugs) But, I just completely let everything melt away. All my problems were gone. I only had to think about "The Wild, Wild, West", "The Electric Slide", "Joy, Pain", etc....
I was the person dancing on the dance floor even after everyone else was taking a break. At that time, I often chose my friends based on my "Terrace Room" criteria. If they didn't care too much for drama, and they were all about dancing, I introduced them to "The Terrace Room".
I used to have such great times there. My cousin and I would save up money from our lunches, (we never hardly ate at that time in our lives), so we could go there. We would spend our money on ripped up acid wash jeans, 6-packs of Awesome Watermelon brand hairspray, and too much perfume. It's funny, because we used to fix ourselves up so the guys couldn't resist us. But, when I got there, I didn't even notice the guys. I was way to busy having fun. Eventually, I met my husband there.
Now, two kids and 11 years of marriage later, I can see how silly I was. I am so glad I got to do it though. I had some of the best times of my life at The Terrace Room.
Sadly now, it is a stripper club. The Terrace Room is a thing of the past.

I do not remember anywhere to go to dance. Mainly the kids just drove up and down the main street and hung out in parking lots.
lol
I know people were worried about me, but I was a teenager. At that time I was too busy having fun to care.
I do have to admit I sometimes danced a little bit too provactively. Oh well. It was all in the name of fun.
I remember sock hops. I went to a couple b4 I was even in high school. Just to dance. I remember thinking how weird high schoolers acted. Changint the lyrics to "Mony Mony" by Billy Joel much to the techer's chagrin. Then, in high school, I remember thinking how babyish I had been. I was the one screaming the "new" lyrics...lol
They don't provide things for kids to do, then wonder why they get into trouble.
What rock concerts did you get to see? I have never been to a rock concert, though rock is my music passion.
Glad your parents let you go, that must have been great!
Seriously though, I worried a lot about you because I wasn't around to protect you fromthe bad people. And well, you didn't have great examples. But you turned out fine :)
Geesh, thanks....I think.
