"Heaven is my Home", "I'll Fly Away" "A Mighty Fortress", "Amazing Grace" and "The Potter's Hand"

My favorite has always been Amazing Grace. It makes me cry every time I hear it.

Roxanne beat me to it. My Dad had a movie made of our old home movies in honour of my Mother and he had Amazing Grace played at the end. It was beautiful. It always makes me cry also.

Well, I'm not much of a churchgoer but as Brian says "(Take My Hand) Precious Lord" is hard to beat. Thomas A. Dorsey, the 'father' of Gospel Music wrote it after learning that his wife and child had died while he was touring as "Georgia Tom" playing blues piano with Gertrude "Ma" Rainey. I was raised as a Jew but my mom grew up in the Methodist Episcopal church. She loved to sing. My favorite hymn I learned from her was "In the Garden."

Blind Willie Johnson, the great gospel singer from the twenties, did a bunch of songs that I love: "Nobody's Fault but Mine," "You're Going to Need Somebody on Your Bond," "Trouble Will Soon Be Over," and several others that would make the list too long.

"Soon and Very Soon" is a good one. I think my favorite though is "On Eagles Wings" ("and he will raise you up on eagles wings, bear you on the breath of dawn...make you to shine like the sun and hold you in the palm of his hand."

I don't go to church but when I did, I think one of my favorites was Amazing Grace. That song is so touching. I've got others but I don't think any of them can top Amazing Grace.

My favorite traditional hymn is "How Great Thou Art." My favorite contemporary praise, which is what I usually sing, is "Shout to the Lord."

I love some of the relatively newer songs , written by William (Bill) Gaither.
" Because He Lives , Magesty , The King Is Coming , We Have This Moment " to name a few !!
