So here I am sitting at the computer last night feeling blue. All of a sudden I'm in a funk I can't get out of.
I scour for some "feel good" music on the internet radio stations. Immediately, it puts me in a better mood and makes me feel better. Nothing can lift your spirits like music. I personally like a very wide variety, once again, depending on my mood...lol Some people might be surprised at the huge differences in the variety of music I like. I try not to like music simply because it is a certain kind. I listen to it, and if it has a good rhythm, or makes me feel a certain way, i like it. Nobody can tell me any different. Even though some may try.
Last night I went back to the music I listened to in high school and I guess even some college aged music, but mostly high school. To alot of people, they couldn't begin to commprehend why this would calm me down. High school for me was in the late 80s, early 90s, but I always loved the 80s more. Who would have guessed that one day Vanhalen, Aerosmith, and Motley Crue screeching would be bringing a smile to my face as an adult.
I don't think it's because they are extroidanarily talented, the best of the best, or anything like that. I think maybe because it just reminded me of simpler times. Before husband, kids, and bills. Before PTA conferences, holiday worries, and other stressors.
It's like when I listen to music from the past, I get a music rush. A feeling of of well being and happy thoughts. I know that may sound a little crazy, but it's true. Nothing can cheer me up like music.
When I do chores, I have to play music. When I cook, I have to play music. When I drive in the car and take a shower I actually sing to the music, out loud, (though people complain)...lol
I realize now what was wrong. I wasn't listening to music while I was on the computer. Life had gotten dull, boring, mundane.
Now, music's back, and I'm breaking everyone's eardrums again :)

Bridget. I work best with music. It lightens my mood, which I need, because I am an overanalyzer (is that a word?)
Shaunee, that's cool. You Rock! I listen to many different kinds of music. Ofcourse, including 80s.
Sandra, I wouldn't say I am an 80s freak, but i do love the 80s.
But only Matt would listen to any 80's stuff, I can't stand it.
