I am wondering about photos and what everyone on Gather thinks. I love taking photos. I have noticed alot of other members do to. I also have noticed members that have alot better talent at taking photos than I have. I am awe of their talent. Not jealous, but in awe. Where it makes me want to improve my photo taking skills. I also tend to add a frame alot of times to my photos.
So, my question is : If I create a photo essay, would you rather I post the original photo untouched in my other photos to see the difference? Or would that be posting the picture to much on Gather? I would have no problem showing the before and after pictures if members wish. I just want to know a way to go about it. So, I don't seem like I am spamming Gather with the same photo multiple times. Any ideas on how to do this. They will be deeply appreciated.
Here's an example of a pic being cropped and uncropped :

I think it is just up to you what you want to do. I don't think it is neccesary to post the original if you crop. But if you want to post both, then do.
I like to put frames on my stuff too and sometimes but not often will I crop a shot, if I want tighten up a corner or something. But a lot of great photographers crop their work and only show the final product.
What is photo essay?
Thanks for your comment - they might have mini mouse one day, you just never know! That's why i love their daily deals.

1. The original versions will give a good idea as to your overall habits in terms of composition, framing, and any general color settings or other realities evident at the time you take the picture. This may lead people to notice things that you might easily change that will result in dramatically better pictures from which to crop, where necessary. I know that it always helps me when my friends/colleagues look at my original photos, as well as the final versions. The more I do this, the less I have to process a photo in any way unless I know I need a special effect.
2. The cropped versions will also show a lot about your technique, in this case what about the photo you liked, where you were looking to get, etc. - in other words, it will give us the general idea of what you might have been ultimately pleased with if you had captured it originally, instead of having to crop.
Good luck with feedback, and I highly recommend you post both versions.
