STRANGE POD!!!

I photographed this strange looking pod last summer, and I have no idea what it could be! There didn't appear to be anything strange flying around it, it was just there! And it was the only one of it's kind. I stumbled upon it by accident...for some strange reason I decided to look up, and there it was! It looked interesting to me, so I decided to photograph it. Does anyone have a clue as to what this pod thing is?

than a wasp. a wasp is sorta laid back i can get close to those to photography but hornet trys to sting me just for looking at it. most wasps are brown/red where hornets are yellow and black hornets also like to bite which hurts worse than a sting if you ask me. just to completely different type of bees

bad thing is if they are awake they usually see you before you see them. I found out the hard way twice. They didn't stink me but sure did give chase and ran me threw nettles and sticker bushes. The second time we were on a naturals hike with a new girl leading it from the rangers station she walked us into a nest on the ground. we ran like crazy they even followed us inside. my son was stung on the finger everyone else got away unharmed luckily
