What children's books do you know of?

Good evening Gather, Today was my son's birthday party (Though his birthday is on Tuesday) and I am beat!

 

This is a game slash something I really want to know. I have 3 kids who are 8, 6 and 2.  I also have some Borders cards. I'm thinking of getting them some new reading material.

 

What children's books do you know of? If you can, one per comment.  :D  You may give me some ideas what to get.

I love the LIttle Critter series ... oh and Robert Munsch...and of course Dr. Seuss
I just picked up books 1-3 of the "Rotten School" series for my son for Christmas, he's 8 (he'll be 9 in January). They are by RL Stein, but not scary like his Goosebumps & Fear Street books. They sound like they are good books for boys, and feature a boy as the main character in a bording school.

At Waldenbooks (borders owned), they are buy 2, get 1 free (got em free with my GC's from here, he he).

For a 6 year old- the Junie B Jones or Jigsaw Jones books are great early chapter books.

For your 2 year old... hmm... Maybe things like Barenstein Bears, Arthur, Backyardagains?

There's a Monster at the end of this book. A seame street story my grandkids LOVE it. Even the 11 year old.

I have an almost 3 yo & a 1 yo & my 3 yo LOVES Chika Chika Boom Boom...(an ABC story ;o)).

Anything Winnie the Pooh really...my boy loves the ones he can interact with like where pooh is on a string & you take pooh from bed & then have him go through the book throughout the day... ;o)...My mother-in-law got it at a yard sale...the characters look kinda cheesy, but my kid LOVES it LOL!

Also I have a couple of 5 min story books & there is one that has Disney stories in it & it was nice cause you don't have to read the whole Disney story just a short 5 min one ;o)

Any of the Serendipity Book series would be great they teach children lessons while telling a great story. Written by Stephen Cosgrove. My grandkids love all this series youngest is age 2 and the oldest is 11.

Not many. I lately bought a children's poetry, Joyful Noise, Poems for Two Voices. It won the Newbery Medal and this is how I knew about it and was motivated to read it. You've gotta read some winners' writings to know how good they wrote and how they won. The book is fun to read. You need two persons reading it and just follow the lines down the page, sometimes two of you would be reading simultaneously and other times, you two would be alternating. It's like a duet. I call it a poem reading duet.

Your older two might enjoy The Spiderwick Chronicles, Shannon. It's a small series of five shorter books. I read a couple chapters a night to Haley and she's able to follow along and enjoy the story and she's four. They're also making a movie out of the series. I saw the preview for it when we watched that last Harry Potter movie at the theater.

A bunch of the Little Golden Books would be great for your two year old and they're very inexpensive. Things like "The Saggy Baggy Elephant", "The Pokey Little Puppy", "The Little Red Hen", etc. I'm sure you recognize some of the titles! A lot of them were the same ones my family read to me when I was a kid.

'I Love You Stinky Face' is a really good book for the little ones. Can't remember who wrote it though. Sorry.

'How Will We Get to the Beach' is another good one.

There are so many more, I am just too tired to think anymore right now.

Their were some childrens books like Homer Price and Henry Reed. They had a lot of humor in them. There was the Winnie the Pooh stories. I enjoyed those.

Where the wild things live.

Take them with you and let them pick the book out. Kids like books and it is very good for them to know the price of there books.

Ella the Elegant Elephant..that is such a cute, cute book..and it is about a very heroic elephant and the pictures are adorable!!
I think it is by Carmela D'Amico or something like that..google the title!!
