OK, after the petting zoo at the Renaisance festival got me kind of excited about petting small animals, yesterday, we went to Bush Gardens. Today, we went to Lowery Park Zoo. We were adding up the price structures for the various packages. We ended up getting one annual pass for my wife as the primary person, and 2 guest passes. Most of the time, myself and my wife will be coming to the zoo. But we got another guest pass because there may be times when we want to bring a guest to the zoo. It ended up costing $105, which wasn't that bad, I thought. I brought my digital camera, and got many photos. I suppose I could have petted several of the goats there at the zoo, but I wasn't into it. I did enjoy the aviary. It's probably still cold for most of the zoo animals. I hope that we'll get some more use out of this year of the annual pass than we did last year (I think last year we only went the one time when we had first gotten the passes, but it was still cool. The Bush Gardens experience seems to be too crowded. I don't think we'll get season's passes again--at least not for a couple of years. After all, the petting zoo at Bush Gardens was closed because of the children who died following e coli exposure traced to petting zoos at state fairs, or whatever.
I think having another pass available for a visitor will be a nice thing. We'll probably use it when her mom comes up, or something. We may use it for my mom.
The zoo is kind of nice. It's not as large as Bush Gardens, but it's not as commercialized either. Having a place like Disney Quest nearby would be really cool, but I suppose that the zoo is also good. The zoo is a more affordable option for a small family.

We used to get yearly passes and be members of the zoo here in nearby Phoenix when our kids were younger. It is a really nice place. My kids always enjoyed themselves, and you are correct in it being a good family outing at a decent price. I haven't been in about three years now though I think.
I don't like crowded places and standing in lines like at a theme park nearly as much as a zoo. Both educational and entertaining, and can be peaceful at the same time.
Thanks.
