"They [Sarmatian women] have no right breasts...for while they are yet babies their mothers make red-hot a bronze instrument constructed for this very purpose and apply it to the right breast and cauterize it, so that its growth is arrested, and all its strength and bulk are diverted to the right shoulder and right arm."--- Hippocrates
I watched a Sci Fi movie of "King Arthur," I was so annoyed by watching Guinevere whacking men, I turned it off. But I tried again, and was fascinated by the historical accuracies such as that King Arthur is real a Roman.
So I watched and did some research. It turns out that the Sarmatian women were powerful warriors able to fight like a man because of this tale of cauterizing the right breast and therefore, making women powerful on their right side.

I'd be in trouble, since I'm left handed...LOL
thanks for sharing
An interesting bit of information.
I have never heard this before
Very interesting historical information. Just proves we woman can do anything.
There is a story that some cultures that had women fighters did either strap or cut the breast on the side they were handed on. I had not heard of cauterizing it before though. Not sure that would work?
Interesting idea though.
hmmm....
It was done so they would have no obstruction while using a bow and arrow.
You don't need to set booby traps if you can fight like a man. Keep it real!
I've never heard of this before, interesting tid-bit
Why not just let them hang out to distract the enemy?
I'd just buy my wife a !pistol
