I would take my kiddos and we would drive to Houston to visit my parents!! I havent seen them in almost 2 years:)
I would probably say my sister. She and I have such a close bond and get along like we are best friends. We usually find fun no matter where we are. She is also a positive influence in my life. We've taken road trips before and always have a blast! We have this plan to one day hit the open road and go to all the tourist attractions we come across along the way!!! If we had the opportunity to just take a road trip, we'd probably drive across the country stopping at all the attractions as we go! It's always fun not have a set plan and discovering something new!
I would invite a witch or an angel along to make sure everything went smoothly.
I would also like someone used to trucking long distance. She would keep us from getting lost.
And I want Dean Koontz or Janet Evanovich - my favorite authors to keep me entertained.
And I want jay Leno. We all need to laugh sometimes and he seems like a cat person.
I want to go on a road trip with my kids, to show them the wonder of other places. To grow together closer as a family. To make priceless memories that they will reminder as adults. I want them to do the same things with their kids that they did when they were kids. I want them to have those memories as I do and I want those memories with my kids to think on when they're all grown and gone.
This is EASY! I would relive my childhood road trips that I took with my parents and siblings! Every Spring Break (from 3rd grade until I graduated), we would get home from school. The car would already be packed, we would hop in and drive off! Never knowing where we were going or when we would get there! We had SO much fun and it's something I will remember forever! We saw SO many wonderful things, landmarks, country and more! There were times we would come to a split in the road and flip a coin to see which way we would go!
As a result I've been to 38 states!
I would LOVE to be able to do that with my husband and kids just ONCE! It's a wonderful learning and bonding experience! There are so many wonderful things and places to see that way.
By not knowing exactly where you are going makes it an adventure!
I would take my best friend Pam. We would drive where ever the open road takes us.
America is so rich with history, and I want to be able to show my kids that, first hand.
I wouldn't have an intended destination. I just want to drive and stop at whatever looks fun, interesting, or entertaining. It would be the best way to find those "hidden gems" like charming towns, the tastiest unheard of restaurants, and those fun spots that are just perfect for OUR family.
Since route 66 is one of the essential icons of America. It would be a dream come true to follow the remnants of the road from Chicago to Los Angeles.
We woulod take the offramp into a bygone era, discovering the 2,400 miles of Route 66 and we would see how America traveled in the 1920's-60's.
We would visit the wonderful old trading posts, filling stations, motels, tourist traps, diners and villages along the scenic "Mother Road".
We would slow down and enjoy the scents of new mown hay and hickory smoke drifting from the pit barbeque chimneys.
We would stop and stroll through villages which I hear haven't changed since they were bypassed by the interstate highway decades ago.
We would sample a real American hamburger and a rich, creamy malt that taste the way they're supposed to.
We would experience 'Sky City' where native Americans live exactly like they have for hundreds of years.
We would pull over along a deserted stretch in the Mojave and just listen to the hum of millions of wheels that have passed this way bwefore while snuggling with my honey.
Ah, windows rolled down, the Beatles bursting from our radio and my camera ready to snap photos, as we travel on my road adventure with my husband. We would chat, laugh and watch the changing landscape as we drove to Maine. Years ago when I was in college I attended a master's class at The Maine Photographic workshop. Since then I've dreamed of traveling to Maine with my husband and sharing with him the gorgeous scenery and the smell of the ocean. If we're lucky we would see a pod of whales. On our way back we would chat about what we witnessed on our road trip.
Watch out Vegas, Chicago, Texas, Lake Charles, Bayou LaForurche, New Orleans, DC, and New York!
This is actually a fairly easy question for me because I am doing this over the summer. My husband children and I are taking a road trip. Although we don't have all the details finished yet we are trying to go to places we have not been before but will most likely stop at a few places we have been to. We are starting at our home in Maryland and heading to Nashville. We love country music so we plan on checking out the Grand Old Opry and a few other spots in Nashville. The we will be heading to San Antonio to check out the Alamo and the River Walk from there we will head north possibly Amarillo ,TX then towards Oceanside, CA where we will be spending two weeks with friends of ours and checking out the San Diego area. When we leave there we will head to San Francisco. We have to check out Alcatraz. Heading back towards home we have not decided on all our stops but one will be Deadwood South Dakota and also Mt Rushmore in South Dakota. After that the way back is places we have been to but I think another stop in Canton, Ohio to see the Football Hall of Fame again will be a good idea. We are really looking forward to this trip!
I know most people would like to take their husbands and/or kids, but not me. Hubby and I can't go on a long road trip without almost killing each other. We argue about who is going to drive when, where to stop, and the navigation. By the time we get to our destination, we're usally so angry with each other that we're not speaking.
As for the kids, I take them everywhere. My kids ride in a vehicle for long distances about every summer. We drive from Georgia to Michigan about once a year. They ride well and they don't mind the rides. They keep themselves entertained fairly well also. The kids and I have had a lot of fun on trips, so this would be nothing new.
Right now, I would take my 2 grandsons along. Jacob is 9 and a big helper and Liam will be 6 next week and is a big entertainer. He would keep us laughing along the road. Plus they are both good travelers.
I used to have a NINE month road trip planned where I would have a small van and drive around the entire United States. Since we couldn't be gone that long, I would drive them across Montana so they could see where I was born. Then we would go to the Mid West so I could show them where my adopted dad was born in Wisconsin in 1883. We'd head to the East coast then so they could visit New York City, Boston and New England. Then we'd head south to Disneyworld.
At this point, my daughter would be getting frantic for them to be back home so we would come back across the US, stopping to meet a few Gather friends in Tennessee and Texas. We'd have to go through Colorado as it is so beautiful with a quick glimpse of Old Faithful in Wyoming.
I left out the West coast as I've already traveled some in that area with my grandkids.
I would take Tony Timpone (editor of Fangoria) and Jamie Lee Curtis. Two of my favorite people outside of my family. I would pick Tony's brains the whole way (no, not with a ice-pick either) about all his experiences within the horror world, and Jamie Lee Curtis just because she is a wonderful role model. I would want to go to Akermann's grave and pay my last respects and also hit a few other gravesites and give my respects to those who have given the horror world a boost to where it is today.
But about 12 years ago we reunited and now she is my Best Friend. We had our problems but today you couldn't break the two of us apart. I don't know what I will do if something happens to her. I will have lost the best friend I have ever had.
We would take to the open road and travel West and look at all the wonders of the World that we could find. We would spend nights camping and days walking trails and just enjoying the beauty of the world. And enjoying each other’s company. We would be free of everyday hassles to the get the job done and the rush rush attitude that this world has. We would be free to be ourselves. Now if I could find that someone had deposited enough money into my bank account so I could take this long overdue trip. If I don’t go soon it might be too late. … Let me go so I can plan this trip!
I would buy a motor home, travel all throughout the United States. I want to see all the major tourist spots: the Grand Tetons, the Grand Canyon, Devils Tomb, Mount Rushmore, the Great Smokey Mountains, the deserts of Arizona. I want to have seafood in Maine, Florida and California. I want to talk to the people. I want to live for a month or two in each spot I pick. Or if I really like it there, I want to stay in one place for six months or even a year.
I want to make a journal of the places I saw, and more importantly, the people I meet. I want to find out of the way places, quirky places, quiet places, pretty places. I want to travel the road most traveled, and the road less traveled. I want to learn from people of all walks of life, and I want to teach them what I know.
I would like to take with me someone who is spiritual, like Robert Fulghum. He has an interesting take on life. And of course, I would take my soul mate, my husband.
Next would be my gather friends, that I really want to meet in person, Lynn A in Tennessee, up to Washington State to see Wilma M and those adorable grandchildren of hers. Hooking back on and heading to Pennsylvania to see Sheila H.
Probably a few others while I was on the Oregon coast.
Probably just a pipedream. But never know what can happen in life.
First of all I would check take all of my vacation accrued and pack up the car and head out the door with all of the family. Obviously we would take some others with us, albeit not in person as they would come with us in our CD player and DVD player for the long haul. Then we would do something that I have always thought would be an excellent adventure (props to Bill & Ted here :)) PCH, that is what we would do, but we wouldn't just ride up the coast, we would live up the coast, stopping in many small town, on many viewing spots to admire the majesty of the Pacific Coast and the joy of the small town atmosphere (we'd probably find ourselves a few favorite restaurants along the way as well). We would definitely make a stop in Redwood, I've always wanted to see a tree that is bigger around at the trunk than my house (who wouldn't want to see that, not scary at all :)) Then, once we finally reached the top of the country, then we would take off to the east and ride along the upper reaches of the country, hitting the vast open spaces that are rarely seen by people. We'd probably stop at a ranch or two along the way and re-enact City Slickers, just for fun (we might even take Billy Crystal along with us in our DVD player :)). Once we finally reached the East coast we'd make too many stops to mention as we all love the history of the U.S.A. and there is so much to see in this regard there. Then, heading south we would make a stop in D.C. to check out all the dead presidents and their statues and quotes (I love me some dead presidents :)) Eventually we would end up down in south Florida, which is where we would probably run out of gas (not the car kind, the travelling kind) and this is where our road trip would end, at least until we decided to go somewhere else!
Road trips are the best. When I was younger I would just get in the car and drive until we decided to turn around and come home. (You can only go so far when you're ditching school) Some days we would head to the beach and other days we would go east to see some of my guy friends.
My grandfather was a big part of my life growing up. My mom's father was killed when she was 15, so Grandpa Moore was the only grandfather that I had, and he more than made up for me only having one. It kills me to be so far away from him in his final days, and I would give anything to be able to go and see him again.
If I could go on the open road with my mom, we would go the places we always thought about going...I'd love to see that monument to Crazy Horse in South Dakota, I've never seen the Mall of America in Minnesota, and I've never been to Washington or Oregon. My mom would love to see Montana, I was in Missoula once and told her about it. I would also love to take her to Hawaii, though that would take a serious side trip on an airplane to get there. I would just enjoy the time with her and seeing things in each others' eyes.
If I could take a road trip, I would take my friend Missy, and my daughter and drive across the country to meet some of my Gather friends in the US. There are so many I would love to meet from coast to coast! Pennsylvania, St. Louis, Texas, Idaho, California, and probably many in between!
I would take my husband to be and my 2 children Dee and Ben and just jump in the car see which way the wind was blowing and follow it, perhaps we would end up at the grand cannon or maybe disney world I would want it to be spontanous and adventurous we have never did a road trip like that before and my kids are 20 and 16 so it would be nice before they got to old to even want to go anywhere with us.
perhaps we would stop and see the biggest ball of string ,,, or where the alamo was fought, or uncle Roy Beans grave but where ever we went we would be together .
If I could take a trip on the open road, I would take my Mom and my Dad with me in my big SUV. We would drive out west first to visit all of my relatives on my Father's side of the family. We would stop in El Paso first to visit some good friends there. We would go from there at a time in the day when we could catch the sun rise as we drove from Texas through New Mexico. We would drive through and head up to Sedona, Arizona and visit some friends there and in Flagstaff then head down to Tucson and then Phoenix to visit more friends. We would more or less stay on this trail as we would want to be close to a military hospital lest one of my two parents get sick on the road. (This could very well be their last trip ever) We would then head west to San Diego to visit friends and family in La Joya and then up to Orange County to visit more relatives and all over the Los Angeles area. Stay there a few days and then head up to the San Francisco area to visit my cousin who lives near Golden Gate Park where her and her husband are award winning designers who I can pick up a tip or two. We would go up to visit the vineyards as my cousin and his wife live in Glen Ellen and a cousin has a restaurant in Los Gatos, California. We would continue on our trek north as our final destination before returning to Texas is Seattle, Washington. Hopefully every one's health would continue on a good path and we could continue this trek through Nevada, Utah and Montana on the way home. Stopping to see all of the sites all along the way. Colorado and back to Texas and down to the gulf coast to see the ocean and back home to Dallas for a big rest.
I think that it would be a trip that could be easily accomplished in three weeks and with not too many expenses as we would be staying with relatives or friends for at least more than half of the trip.
Thanks for the opportunity to be considered for the prize.
I love taking trips with my husband, but it might be really fun to go with my sister, my daughter and my nieces. We wouldn't be Girls Gone Wild, but I know we'd have a lot of laughs. Well, maybe a little bit wild...
I think we'd have to plan multiple destinations. Historic Williamsburg, VA, for my sister and me and some place more hip and active for the young'uns. I'm ready to start packing!
My Husband would be the main driver, I would fill in as needed.
We had planned on taking the most scenic road routes that we could find within our time limits for our honeymoon which would have been last July 7th, but with limited funding, we postponed it for Christmas. Well when Christmas rolled around needless to say we still did not have the money to go. So, our trip was once again postponed till the God only knows.
Thank you, for the chance to win a movie, God Bless.
