Giving and Receiving - two sides of the same coin.
It often feels easier to be the giver than the receiver....
Yet the receiver is also giving the giver a gift.
Without someone to receive our gift, we would be denied the pleasure of giving.
Without the gifts others give us, we would not be in a position to keep giving.
Together we strengthen one another.

This is such a great post. I have done much thinking on this, as I am one who hates to get presents! I always feel so silly when someone gives me something, and I never feel like its deserved.
Then I started to think deeper on it, and for some reason Jesus came to mind. I recalled the story of him telling his appostles to go to villages with only the clothes on their back. To rely on others for sustinance. At first I thought this was to benefit the apostles, but now I can see that it was to benefit those who would give to them to sustain them. Jesus was instructing his apostles to give the people a chance to open their hearts and GIVE of themsevles. To experince that joy, that you can only get by giving to someone else.
So then I started thinking... accepting a gift is really more then just deserving it. It gives the giver a chance to experience the joy of giving. So being so fickle about taking them, I am not only hurting myself, but the giver.
Very interesting thought Carol! I enjoyed this :-)
You are so right Pamela. It makes you sort of rethink the old saying, just a bit, it is better to give than to receive. Maybe it is better, sometimes to allow others to give, to help, to do for you.
Together we strengthen one other.
But first we must allow others in, allow the help. It is easier sometimes to withdraw and not accept the help. Another way to think as we travel down the path of life. Thank you for your insight.
Sounds like you have been reading my book at www.nopom.info . :-)
No I haven't but I will Larry. Thanks for the link.
Very, very beautiful, Carol, and oh so true! Yes, I really love to give gifts/surprises to others......it makes me feel so good!
Love that warm and fuzzy feeling!
very true
Thanks for the visit Penni.
"Together we strengthen one another."
A perfect summation in this phrase, my dear! By making togetherness "the coin of our choice", we begin to bring new healing and strength to one another. As time goes by, and we continue to practice this "togetherness", we will see, in retrospect, how unforeseen blessings have miraculously solidified us in new and unimaginable ways.
Wonderful thoughts over which to ponder, my friend.
You have such a way with words my friend. Thank you for the most welcomed visit.
I do enjoy giving and hadn't thought of the fact that being the receiver of the gift is just as important at times unless you give anonymously
It does make your re-think things. Thanks for visiting.
I thought this to be a lovely penning of compassionate wisdom: Its tone, gentle, its content, profound.

Well thank you Autumn.
Very wise. Yes, easier. We had friends who wanted to give a used bookcase to other friends they barely knew (many years ago). I suggested they instead sell it to them for a token amount. They did. That took the pressure off both. The purchasers/recipients felt they had gotten a good deal instead of feeling obligated or a "charity case".
Amazing story. Life is about the little things John. Thanks for visiting. Always good to see you and your little one on your shoulders. :)
A very good point and definitely food for thought...
Kind of makes you rethink things a little.
I needed to read this especially, it does do that and makes me realize it is a Huge problem area for me, always has been but worse as I've gotten older.....
I guess we live and learn... maybe. So much has changed with me and my thinking since I lost Dustin. Everything as a matter of fact.
Very nice thoughts Carol. Take care.
Thank you John... same to you.
So simple and so true. It all evens out, doesn't it? Good thoughts, Carol.
