I don't know what it is, but every time a new month begins, I feel like the slate has been wiped clean and I have a fresh start. I feel as if I can "start over". I don't know why, I just do. However, I get an occasional reminder that the slate is not as clean as the real world, such as a letter about a bill I haven't paid, or something bringing up a dumb mistake I made 15 years ago.
You know, I am so thankful that God is not like us. When He forgives you, He doesn't bring it up to win an argument or to belittle you. He really forgives and forgets. Humans try to, but we don't fully have that capability. We can forgive, but we can keep the offense in the back of our minds for a lifetime.
Anyway, a new month is like a mini-New Year for me. No, I don't stay up until midnight or toss confetti, but I can put the last month behind me and aim to do better this month. It could be exercising more, learning a new craft or breaking a bad habit. This month, I'm working on a special project that I hope to be mostly done with soon - starting a local non-profit organization. The concept is a little controversial, so I may face some opposition, but I believe it can be done with God's help.
Does anyone else set monthly goals?

God does give us new beginnings and another chance to be fresh and new and start again.
Monthly goals are a great idea and it is already the 17th.
hmmm. Maybe I should start working on goals for June.
