Since I just posted a photo-essay of our year-end party for our homeschooling group, several asked about our summer plans.
Well, homeschooling is not quite done yet! We took alot of time off during Nov/Dec when family was in town, so we have a couple of weeks to go to finish up the last of our school books. However, we have finished several subjects. We don't totally quit for the summer though - we're still going to be practicing handwriting, doing a couple of math worksheets each week and working on learning cursive. My oldest is turning 8 soon, so it's time to begin cursive. Actually should have started it earlier but her print needed more work first!
We don't have any vacation plans as we're too broke to go anywhere. :(- But, my summer goal is to get organized. To get at least 6 weeks worth of meal plans down pat, a chore chart for all of us that WORKS (and get in the habit of DOING it), and to have it all "together" before next school year. Next year my youngest starts kindergarten (at home) so I have to be prepared to teach two kids, which will require some additional time. And, I want to add in homeschool choir because both of my girls LOVE to sing and actually do really well at staying in tune! I want them to get the chance to explore that. Oh, and I'm adding in an additional 2 subjects next year (U.S. History & Science) So, next year's schedule will look something like this:
Monday - Saints (homeschool Phys ed program)
Tues - work & homeschool (I take my kids to work with me for 1/2 day); then off to Ballet
Wed - Community Bible Study and homeschool
Thur - Homeschool & Choir
Friday - either homeschool meeting, field trip or school work and library
Saturday - I'm usually working without the kids
Sunday - church & family day
WOW - I'm tired just looking at that! See why I need to be organized? And I'm soooooo unorganized by nature! lol
So...what are your summer plans? Anything more exciting than mine, I hope?

After that, the only plans we have are to go to Grand Forks one weekend to do a little bit of shopping. It's only about 2.5-3 hours from here, so I'm not sure if we will spend the night or not. It's amazing how much more they have there, considering the city is close to the same size as Minot.
Have a great gather day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for posting to sparealine.gather.com
This year, I really want to go camping. I also want to hike the Niagara Gorge. I want to take the dogs with me, but I am not sure how Zelda will do for a 5 hour car trip. We may have to put the gorge off for another year, which is a shame, because I plan to have a baby next year, God willing. So we'll see! Either way I think this is going to be a great summer! We usually spend lots of time at the river with the dog, and now we'll be spending time at the farm as well... and I want to take them to the Delaware River in PA as well. Its gonna be great :-)
