Robert L. Borosage takes a look at the "Do Nothing" Congress, and reveals the real reasons why. This congress has the lowest rating in history, yet when asked who would better handle issue after issue, Americans rate democrats higher by double digits. Here's why. The political, partisan strategy of the GOP to halt any progress in this congressional session, and blame it on the Democrats has not worked, and for once, the public sees through these ideologues. Hardly. They had the threat of the "nucular solutun" hanging over their head, something the Dems have not even threatened to do. Can you say hypocrites?
Can't, but I surely understand the sentiment.
Their tiny brains might explode.
Actually, I do too, because I think it's going to take that to clean up the mess Bush is going to leave the next president in. People wont like what has to be done, it isn't remotely going to reflect this campaign and the inane promises we insist on to elect someone, and they may only serve one term, but in that term they can do much to rehabilitate this country, which is, as anyone can see, in bad trouble. JMHO.
The facts presented there are checkable, Melinda, and I'd bet it has a lot more to do with them not agreeing with your party loyalty, than any inaccuracies involved.
I would agree, on the housing bill, if they had not already, through the Fed, bailed out Bear Stearns, etc. What's good for the rich, is good for the gander, so to speak.
It will supposedly help a whopping 15% of People about to lose their homes but 100% of the bankers.
They have no idea what to do, to worried about getting reelected.
Besides the fact that most of them work for the lobbyists any way.
Melinda, I'll be willing to bet you do not have any problems believing those "fact filled" emails floating around. You know, like the ones claiming that Obama is a secret, covert Islamic fundamentalist terrorist looking to destroy America from an inside operation, or the email from one of the troops saying that Obama dissed the troops. Funny how things are so much more believable when they fit into your ideology.
bush may be corrupt/dishonest/criminal/immoral but he sure knew how to "use'' congress.
Instead of complaining about do-nothingness, the right wing delusionists will then complain about what the ARE doing. LOL! Either way, it is all propaganda against Dems in general.
I like the "100% Democrat Congress" idea!

2 Wrongs don't make a right. I didn't support that either. In both cases, it's my tax dollar going to cover someone's poor decision making and inability/unwillingness to accept the consequences thereof.
I only mentioned the housing thing because it was fresh in the news, and served as a glaring example of why I wished they truly DID "do nothing". The stuff they DO agree on is not helping.
And I work for a bank, in the Home Equity Dept. And I'm still very much against all of this - Fannie and Freddie should be allowed to fail and the industry should take the lumps it deserves. My particular bank didn't get involved in subprime loans, our foreclosure rates haven't changed much at all. But the ones that DID screw up deserve to eat their hats. Yes I know that will take my bank with it to a degree, but them's the breaks.
