I had a thought. That alone is worthy of an article I suppose, but it's a relevant thought so I've chosen to share it.
What if, just what if, there were an internet ratings system and this week it's sweeps! (If everybody on the planet already knows this and I'm a clueless twerp, please be kind to me.)
But doesn't it make sense? If this is the week that some important people, with clipboards and influence, tally up the hits on internet blog sites and then publish the results, doesn't it make sense for our Gather Gods to entice us to blog like never before?
I know it worked for me, and I'm one of the international Yet Set who can't even redeem the points Yet. Yet I've been commenting more than I usually would on a Saturday (or any day really) and tomorrow I plan to unleash a triple point trilogy of articles.
I could even, with these triple points, come close to being a cash rewardee and I imagine there would be many many members who generally fall short, yet this timely generosity could put them over the edge. (Again I point out that even should I reach that Holy Grail I'll be declined in my eligibility because I'm not permitted to sign a WD-40 or whatever it is. Slippery buggers those tax officers are..)
Anyway, that was my thought. Do they have internet 'sweeps'? Is this a very clever way to up the hits so our lovely Gather site appears to be even more popular than it regularly is? Waddya reckon?

Jennifer, I didn't get to see the original article so thanks for that. All I saw was the 'what's on gather' thing that said the reason was something like to reward us for our loyalty and participation. So just like when MacDonalds have their charity days and a dollar from every big mac goes to a childrens hospital and I start to wonder how many more fries and cokes they're gonna sell on that day, I got to thinking along my suspicious lines.
i was suspicious, too. thinking that there would be big advertisers coming and looking. clean house! make fresh bread! etc...
