Rain Blossom: Tahitian Jasmine
Images of rain on a flower blossom appeal to me. I like to look for shots during light rains or as a rain shower lets up. Some blossoms stand up to rough weather, including strong rain, quite well.
Recently after several days of heavy rain with forceful winds I was intrigued to see how fresh some blossoms appeared beneath clusters of raindrops.
The blossom of this Tahitian Jasmine responded in a different way to the same weather. Although driven and drenched, the delicate petals withstood the shredding power of the wind. The blossom, laden and saturated with rain, had also become translucent. It is fascinating to see through these petals.

thank you Jill, this plant is in my back yard. it has a terrific scent. i was unaware until i saw it that day that the petals would become translucent - even if i had seen it happen before that day. i like frames for a number of reasons - including as a separation between one (outer) world and another (inside the frame) world. i also like the frame space as a transitional space between those worlds too. so i am playing with creating my frames into the image and out of the image more and more. i think when the work is actually framed it will still work this way and hopefully not become too cluttered. i make each frame for each piece as i am working on the piece. and yes, exactly, i want the frame to add to that inside world rather than detract from it. i also want it to relate to both worlds. relationships are what really good stuff is about i think.
