I used to think that sites like Myspace was the place to mingle online.
It was fun for a while, but all the nuts came to town, and Myspace was no longer my space to mingle.
I tried other sites, and found Gather in March.
I joined, and never looked back.
Gather gave me the chance to expand on my thinking and learn from others.
Now I don't claim to be smart, but I did get smarter because of the people who are members of Gather.
They write, comment, share, and open up in a trusted way.
They provide the chance for others to learn, and those others are all of us.
This is what happens when you mingle with a good crowd.
We all learn from each other and have fun at the same time.
We earn points as well, and that is a bonus.
So I will "Gather" here from now on and become a more rounded and better person.
I will still use Myspace and some of the other sites, but hey, I do need a good laugh every now and then.
(I'm not saying that all of the other sites for social networking are bad, but give me Gather and give me my life.)

.................but I have a question. You say you joined in March....and you already joined that many groups????? How do you find time to keep up with them all?
I get several group invites every day and have to weigh the pros and cons constantly before I join a new one....
I also have a myspace, but I do not use it like Gather.com.
Gather is my favorite.
It is worse than a sleazy bar.
I also hate Facebook for the same reasons.
I left Judy's book along with about 400 others to come to Gather. Judys Book used to pay us monthly in gift cards for writing reviews and making postings but they decided to stop the payments but wanted us to start buying stuff from their sponsers....we all left to come to Gather.

According to his profile he's single, straight and will sometimes listen to public radio. That's all.
He also has joined 30 pages full of groups... and 37 pages full of connections. At 20 people or groups per page, do the Math... he's been a busy boy...
I like it here.
I love gather because of all the different people on here. There are so many wonderful articles and wonderful people. I have no regrets being here on gather.
As for an online community? Gather all the way. As a writer and a photo enthusiast, Gather is the perfect match for me.
Good to meet you all here at Gather.
Also, I liked facebook when it was specifically for college students and alumni, but now they've opened it up on a regional basis, and it's all gone to heck.
I wish gather was closed to serious writers, poets, photographers and the like. My hope is that it will only continue to appeal to only certain types of people.
Good post!
