Going Cruising..

Cheryl, First...blah(tongue stuck out!) lol....now that that's over- I'm glad for you!!! It is truly a well deserved vacation for you:) and also long overdue.

I, myself, have never gone on a cruise, but if given the chance, I WOULD, despite all I've heard in the news! I do have a friend, though, that has been on quiet a few, and has enjoyed them all without mishap.

Sounds like fun! I've been to Catalina...but I don't think that counts as a real cruise. Can't wait to hear all of your stories when you get back!

I have never been on a real cruise but think I would love it. From Texas I once rode out into international waters and enjoyed a bit of gambling. I loved looking down into and across the waves. Have a great time and take lots of pictures for us!

I've been on a few cruises and have enjoyed each and every one...One tip I would suggest is if you want to go on excursions that are offered, sign up early, the first day if you can...they usually fill up fast..another is to just have fun.....;)

...oh, a thought, Take some Dramamine with you, in case you get motion sick:)

Three would be crowd, and I would have to Fly to get to Florida or you could take me with you. Get the captian to turn all he lights on the ship off before the moon rises, so you can see moon without lights around. I'd love to see the moon that way again..Have fun.

You will have a blast. We have been on four cruises over the last five years and have another booked for March - all on big cruise ships. It enables a good mix of relaxation - lots of lying around on the deck, drinking cocktails and pretending to read a book while actually just watching everyone go by, (there is material for your future posts) - with a mass of stuff to do, shows, dances, all available. Ignore any horror stories. We first went as a safe place for our then 13 year old daughter to be able to wander off without us. I am sure that you will not be doing anything stupid like getting drunk and hanging over balconies.

Why not take a notebook (the pencil and paper type, or even electronic) to jot down your future Gather submissions? The big ships all have internet cafes (at a price) and wireless networks, if you need to feed a net addiction!

If you want any specific questions answered then the bulletin boards at sites like cruisecritics.com will give a wealth of opinion.

Lucky you!!!!!!!!! I have never been on a cruise but would love to go on one. As far as horror storiess go, have you ever noticed during a prgnancy, it never fails, someone will have a million horror stories to tell you to scare teh crap out of you. Also the same goes for any kind of trip, amusement park, resturaunt...you name it there are horror stories about everything. Peple get mugged in airports occasionally...doesn't stop people from flying does it? Go. Enjoy. Relax. And tell us all about it when you get home. Have a great trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would say if there is any emergency, please dont panick imideately, and always take care, and we will miss you!

Cheryl, HAVE FUN! I love going on cruises. The only real pitfall that I can think of is the problem of putting on a few pounds because of the endless and very delicious food. Sure, the ship has a track to run on and a first-class exercise room, but really, who's going to use it while on vacation? Enjoy yourself! Be sure to see lots of shows and go dancing well into the night. Don't forget about the midnight buffet -- it's magnificant. Take the sea-sickness pills provided by the ship if you need them -- otherwise, don't because they make you drowsy. Bon Voyage!

Enjoy your cruise. I would make sure you all wear some sort of identifying bracelets to identify yourselves should someone get lost at a port, etc.

I've never been one to get sick easily, but on my cruise we had to bypass our first port because the water was so choppy from storms we couldn't port. This resulted in the boat moving (ever slightly) and made me feel sick, sick, sick! The pills came in handy -- definately keep them nearby just in case!
The only other thing I can think of is just to take the precautions you'd take traveling anywhere: Watch your possessions (I recommend not carrying a purse, but maybe an over the shoulder travel wallet you can hide or keep things in your front pockets.) Tourism is probably huge wherever you're going so you have to sternly say "no" if you aren't interested in whatever is being peddled. Make sure you're back to port early enough to get on the boat too!!! And HAVE FUN and enjoy your time away!
