Steel Dragon-Next Stop Poetry Submission

Fire falls from the wheels of steel, each time it slows to stop,
Inside a station the children gathering, want to board, then not,
This Steel Dragon is a friend, but scary in it's way,
They know the power of the wheels, perhaps they should stay?

I felt this once when I was a child, longing to see a dream,
Across the country I could ride, it was all mine,  or so it seemed,
Passing the cities, the hills,  the mountains and town halls,
I sat entranced, I felt so free, this Steel Dragon had no walls.

We roared across the land so fast and so free,
I was going to Grandma's, for I was only three,
With her I was safe, this I knew, and would be there soon,
My ride it was swift, from moon to moon.

Soon there it was a platform in sight,
I hugged my little Teddy, I was full of delight,
For the next stop it held a new life for me,
I was ready for it, was it ready for me?
 
I felt my fears go far away, and knew I was now grown-up,
I had seen the world!I watched it slide right by, no stops so abrupt,
And soon a platform I was beginning to see, was looming in the night,
And there she was,a very small lady who could make all things right.

Off I jumped, I now felt like a man,
I had ridden a Steel Dragon, for me a little plan,
To get to Grandma as fast as I could, and it would all be better now,
My parents road a "Steel Bird", not so lucky as me, It fell from the sky, but how?

All of us children who boarded that night,
had stories to tell, and that is our right'
We had ridden the "Dragon", and had all lived to tell,
Of all that we saw, and none of us fell.
