The Amtrak Downeaster offers four round-trip journeys every day between Boston and Portland.
In Colonial times, Maine shipbuilders created some of the finest sailing vessels ever built, and called them "Downeasters." Today, Amtrak's sleek and sophisticated Downeaster runs between Boston and Portland, Maine with a magical journey along the New England shoreline.
Along the Downeaster route you'll find historic colonial cities, beautiful beaches, world-class shopping, a thriving arts and entertainment scene - and the best lobster and seafood in the world!
The Downeaster is operated through funds made available by the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority.
Enjoy the ride!

A strip running the length of the car to plug in laptop , etc.
Wifi access in stations and sometimes kicking in on the train
Much improved (but still has a way to go) food in club car (it still runs out to soon, and not all menu items are actually available even right after food onload stations such as NYC; I'd like to make some menu suggestions to make the food both tastier and healthier)
The restrooms were cleaner than in the past (but there is still room for improvement)
