I took the Amtrak Surfliner from San Luis Obispo, CA to Anaheim yesterday. All the ocean photos were taken from the train through the thick train windows. Some were taken while the train was moving. Some are crowd shots taken from far away so as not to intrude on people's personal space. Even though they are blurry, I still like them because they remind me of impressionistic paintings. Mostly I just want people to realize all the great vistas they will see from the train and some of the unusual people they will come across as well.
If you are one of those Gather members that chooses to judge photos as if they were all contests entries in a national competition, you should probably just move along now. But if you want to see a piece of my trip because you want to travel by train yourself or you just love trains and train culture, then welcome aboard.

There is an Amtrak group on Gather you could submit this to.
Alison, I submitted it to the Amtrak group as well, but those are moderated so I don't know if they are going to add it to the group or not.
My husband and I was planning on taking the Amtrak from West Virginia to Salt Lake City Utah. We have went there about 11 summers in a row but thought it would be nice to not have to drive and to see a different view of the country.
However, we had to cancel our plans that summer as my mother in law was dying of cancer. She died the day we would have arrived in Utah.
Ten unsolicited points from the world's worst connection. Merry whatever you celebrate!
