Compact fluorescent light bulb, warning~

I am not sure if this has already been posted at Gather. Doesn't hurt repeating just in case some one missed it. I was just listening to the news, while doing some Gathering. When when this caught my attention.

Last year, Rick Jenkins and his family lost their home to a fire. They were stunned when investigators told them what sparked those flames: a compact fluorescent bulb, "environmentally energy saving light bulbs" connected to a dimmer switch.

These packages do have the warning on them. "not dimable" . Do not use with a dimmer switch. But it is in very small print. Something of this importance, should be in bolder print.

Experts say this is so rare, and the bulbs are so new. That they are still learning about the potential benefits and hazards of having CFL's in your home. Firefighters say they do get calls for the smell of smoke in the home. Smoke, that could come from the bulbs.

I have three myself, and never saw the warning. I am mad at myself for missing that. And so glad that luckily, I did not put one in our hallway. Where we have a dimmer switch..

This should not scare anyone from using them. Just please read the package. So that you use them in the correct place.

Please remember~
Some of these environmental light bulbs. Are NOT to be used with a dimmer switch. Make sure to read the package. There are some new ones that CAN be used with a dimmer switch.
