Breaking 500

Okay, I know that all of you Gatheraholics will laugh at me for this one but, today I broke 500 Gather points. Yep. Seriously. I've been a member pretty much since this place opened. I don't have much free time though, so I've only been able to post here and there. So, this is my first time to exceed 500. It feels like such a milestone.

I know that for some it's an uncommon month to not make cash. Every once in a while, I'll see a post from one of my impressive, over achiever friends here (um, Jill... wow!) who will have yet again surpassed 3,000 points in a month, and I just sit and marvel over it. I can't fathom the effort that must take! (She is a prolific writer and really active commenter - real, meaningful comments, at that.)

I, on the other hand, have been known to have an entire month or more pass without having a chance to log in. Yeah... if you ever thought I was ignoring your e-mails, I wasn't. I just didn't get them until mighty late. And those super cute photos of your children that every other one of your friends commented droves on? Um, well, I saw the Halloween ones by Christmas Eve, and those adorable Easter portraits, I anticipate I'll view them by Labor Day. That's still this year, so I think it counts. Now, maybe I won't see this year's birthday video until next year's rolls around, but at least I'll be able to make insightful comparisons to the previous year's event.

So, although many of you, oh hell, okay, most of you, have probably hit 500 every month since your blog opened, I'm gleeful because I finally did it for the first time. Yeah me! And someday, if the WiFi just holds out through tornado season, and there aren't any Category 3 or better hurricanes to chase come late summer, I could see myself hitting the Holy Grail - 625. For those of you who live in the world of cash, that's the points required for a $10 Amazon gift card, which of course, I'll spend on more books about natural hazards. I think I can see it my future, sometime around Valentine's Day 2009.
