December 6, 2007:
I just won a $5 Amazon gift code while looking up how to change the burnt out bulb on our license plate. It's my second $5 LuckySearch win since starting to use that as my default search engine, not bad for searches I would have done anyway. LuckySearch is the same as using Google, just with a chance to win points you can use on a variety of things.
It gets better. If you refer people, when they win, you win the same thing. So the person who referred me has received 1000 points, or a $10 value, from my two wins.
When you sign up watch for a prompt to add this search engine to your search box, if you have one in your IE or Firefox browser, and they become as easy to use as the Google search you may already have there. (I did). Because it functions the same as google and I have it set to my default, I don't even have to think about using it, I just do automatically whenever I need to look something up.
June 2, 2009 update:
Swagbucks is my current favorite search. With my normal search usage I tend to win enough swagbucks for an amazon gift card every 2-3 weeks. They post bonus swagbuck codes on their blog, so you might want to keep an eye on that, too.
I'm also trying Scour and iRazoo, both of which give you guaranteed points per activity. I like the idea of not being dependent on instantly winning, but they do seem to add up slower than swagbucks. Scour's points convert like so: 6,500 points = $25.00; they're also available to a range of countries often left out in programs like this. Check out their FAQ for more info. iRazoo's points are only good to members from the US, U.K., Canada, and India, but users from any country are eligible to win instantly win a $500 amazon gift card, by using the search. By the way, if you've referred friends, and one of your friends wins that $500 gift card, you get one, too.

My Squidoo page on Search and Wins goes into more detail on the searches I've listed, and also discusses searches for charity. It even has a module where readers can add others I haven't mentioned, and vote on their favorites. Check it out if you'd like to see other search and win options.

So, have you had any luck with search and wins?
Are there any others I haven't mentioned, that are worth using, in your experience?

Our license plate was so corroded we had to take it to a garage. The dealer was going to be like $100, so I told them where to go ;)
So far, no luck, so I am not really recommending it... unless you are really interested.
Merry Christmas to YOU and YOURS!
I'll have to check blingo out, I haven't tried that one yet.
Thanks, Denise.
Merry Christmas, Esther.
Thank you, Heather. :)
Merry Christmas...
Angela, I emailed you my referral link. Thanks. LuckySearch's amazon gc arrived in my email the day after I requested it. Not too long.
Heather, thanks for the info about Moola's search. :) If I ever get around to verifying my account with them I'll have to try that. (I don't have a cell phone and the other way involves buying something through one of their sponsor sites, which I know is worth it but I'm not ready to do that yet.)
Hmm, I had not heard of these. I may check them out. Have you tried Swag Bucks? I would love to refer you if you are interested. I have earned over $60 from them since December 2008.
Thanks, Henry and Matthew, for adding swagbucks to the discussion. I've been using swagbucks for a while, it's a good one!
I think I am going to stop using Scour now that they have changed their points system.
