I finally got to go to a butterfly exhibit. It was awesome. You can zip through the photos below, or click on the thumbnail above/right and use next to see larger, more detailed copies.
The first thing I learned was how quickly butterflies can close their little wings after you press the button and before the final click of the camera! That delay with digital cameras is a killer sometimes. I also never realized how rarely they sat still. A friend who was with me suggested it was time to leave when she heard me scolding a little Monarch butterfly about his failure to cooperate! (I swear the little bug was laughing at me!)
I have had my Canon Power Shot A70 camera for quite a while and love it. I shouldn't admit it, but I have spent years using the AUTO setting. It wasn't until after the butterflies last week that I found out I have a Macro setting. Now stop laughing! It's an honest mistake. I'm not Trudy or Dan ... I'm just a beginner! :-)
Anyway, here are some of the photos I took. Thanks to the camera, and a group of cooperative butterflies, they came out pretty good for a first time. I tried to leave out the dozens of shots I took where their little wings were blurry. I hope you like them.

:-)
These are great...
you use as a logo?
and as for beginner, I've just closed out my first year with a camera... and hate to say it, but am far better photographer than Dan. I just don't waste my time here on Gather uploading images because I found out ages ago tht they get no support. And now i hae to work at selling them instead.
but you did a good job for the first effort and i can't say that mine were equal to yours on my first effort-- but now-- sorry. I'm really very good at macros and so excuse me when I am happy to admit it.
thank-you for submitting to Small World, but over here, U am really good at 'flies. You just never stopped to look at them.
You managed to catch them.
