Lord....it's really simple. The high tech industry has used up all of it's H1B Visa's, which they LOVE, as it allows them to hire foreigners to take American Jobs in High tech jobs in the computer and engineering sectors as two examples. They love these H1B Visa's as they can bring foreign workers to America, give them a job at a starting salary $14,000 less than the prevailing wage for an American worker. In the last two years, the American Job Sector has lost 0ver 700,000 jobs to out sourcing, and these H1B Visa's...in short, we have Americans that WILL DO THOSE JOBS.

In a Lame Duck move to sneak an increase through, a group of 10 Lobbyist from Microsoft showed up in the halls of the Senate late yesterday afternoon to lobby for a last minute push for FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND more of these visa allotments. They were/are hoping to keep folks like me from having a chance to STOP IT, which is why I have posted this ACTION ALERT that I got from Numbers USA.

Just got off the phone, great number, just gave my state and was connected to my Senators Office. Stated I wanted to request the senator to vote against John Cornyn's bill and she said she'd pass that along. I asked if she knew which bill, she said yes, which gives me hope that a lot of people are calling on this.

What is really insulting about this whole thing is the fact that Microsoft has put about 7,000 of their software engineers on "leave" because of a lack of work.
(In other words, Bill Gates doesn't want to pay going wages for American software engineers). Now they're crying that they need foreign engineers to work because of a "worker shortage" that they "conveniently" caused by putting Americans on leave.
It's just another CON JOB by Microsoft to get cheap labor!

It's an organization that is dedicated to fight illegal immigration and provide free fax services to your legislators for you. It's a great website and I highly recommend it. I've been a member for about 5 years.
