The Things We Too Seldom Consider ...
When you put most any name or picture out as the higher known representative of the far right agenda, you will see oppression of the free thinkers, the 'little' people that of course are moderate or liberal, who just fight back as best they can from the grass roots ...
This is the story and the history of the eons, the rich and infamous oppressing and controlling all others for power and greed, usually involving great corruption, oppression, deceit, and even murder, singular in assassination for regime change and massive when needed for their purposes.
So the extreme right stands for the above while the extreme left stands for resistance to the above. It is as simple as that !
The right then controls what they can ... the Internet is now their worst 'enemy' because it is the voice of the people and they have not yet been able to get their hooks into it. But they are working on that very diligently 24/7 via their think tanks.
The latest attempt (that I am aware of) is the changes in FCC rules that decide who gets what bandwidth of available frequencies ... it is very complicated and beyond the knowing of the average person, but it is being consolidated into the hands of the rich and powerful few with out a doubt.
Our media empire is just that, an empire. It controls the thoughts of the average person and it is the average person that in turns gives their personal support to the candidate that is handed, yes, 'handed', to them by their controllers.
The controllers are really people way behind the scenes that must stay anonymous to retain their power, they also are the heads, of the heads of, multinational corporations that have no transparency due to cleverly hidden, interlocking inter-relationships of actual ownership and control ... but some researchers from the left have been able to track down and narrow down much closer just who owns and controls what.
To look into that closer, one will find that ALL of the major media groups are under the control of a relatively few people that have very like interests ... the control of the worlds masses. You would be amazed and shocked if you had even the slightest idea of just how far that control has been extended into your very life.
It is so pernicious and nefarious, that most actually refuse to consider just what it amounts to. Most do not even want to face up to just what is involved, they would rather sweep it under the rug and pretend that their 'favourite' so-called leader will protect and save them ... NOT !
We each and all need to at least begin to wake up and start asking (first of ourselves) the harder questions about just what is truth in the bigger picture and how we want to relate to it. Do we want to face up to it, or do we want to keep hiding from it ... ???
Let's wake up folks, the rug is beginning to show an awful big lump under it, and it also stinks ... in fact there is rot there that is working it's way down into the very foundation of our 'house' and home that we need for our security ... lets quit sweeping everything we are afraid of facing, under the rug of make believe ... and have a real house cleaning .
At the very least begin to question the so-called 'facts' that are handed to you and even then called 'truth' ... truth they are not.
In two more years we will have the so-called 'choice' one more time to select one of the two handed to us for our future hopes and dreams ... will we choose wisely to achieve our hoped for 'dream', or will be fooled once again into a continuation of our unrealized, but never the less real, nightmare ???
In either case, it will be so much better for us if we first WAKE UP and face up to the festering pile under our 'rug' of preffered beliefs.

"We the people" change one person at a time:
1. Break out of the prison of "TV hypnosis" whatever way you can
2. Learn self-healing techniques and build confidence by practicing them in groups
3. Learn to garden - supply at least a portion of your own food
4. Write down your dreams - they carry power and information, guidance for your daily life and for farther in the future as well.
However, Jerry - I think if we demonize the opposing side we risk ignoring important things they have to say. As a conservative - I know that liberals have good ideas - I just disagree with the methods of getting to those ideas. Conservatives can be bad (Tom DeLay) or they can be good (John McCain). The same is true for Democrats - The guy you elected in Montana is hardly a liberal by most standards.
Speaking of Montana, I have only lived here less than 5 years and have ran across very few that were not FAR right, so I can believe that our guy is not really very liberal, but we do the best we can with what we get to pick from. :-)

It can be fun and enlightening to google up some of the companies that put the '"do-good, feel good" so called "public good" spot announcements on the air--and find out who's on the Board of Directors.
As we're studying the left, the right - we're looking at a whole society that's been trained to think inside this particular box:
Side I. HUMANCENTRIC ["humans are the greatest thing ever created, and can do whatever they want to all other things and beings"]
Side II. POSSESSION-CENTRIC ["those individuals and nations with the most possessions, however they acquire them, are the best. People can be bought and sold."]
Side III. EXCITEMENT-CENTRIC ["humans have a right to stimulate themselves at others' expense, and the 'best' humans can buy whatever they want to cover up their moral stench"]
Side IV. MATERIAL EXPANSION-CENTRIC ["humans are born to build and build, higher and wider and more, and never stop. Humans have more rights than all other creatures, and therefore can keep expanding and expanding their population/territory, and expect no consequences, since humans are 'the best.']

Nathan, there is a great big body of scholastic and other thought on the subject of "thoughts." Cognitive theory is just one of these. Mere "thoughts" can definitely make you feel better--or worser--and make you behave accordingly, depending on your level of consciousness. Remember the "inner game of tennis?"
Our saving grace right now is the Internet ... we in the states have a certain right-wing politician that is thinking (is doing, just not official yet) of running for our next president, he has been spreading fear with the claim that the Internet must be completely monitored and controlled by the government for the 'supposed' safety of our democracy ... the scary thing is, we have enough idiots in this country, many elderly people that are not into computer use, that have believed the fear mongers to the degree that they would vote for just such limitations.
I love the way you express yourself. I happen to think that "liberals" "conservatives" "Democrats" & "Republicans" are all obsolete words. Globalization will ultimately enslave most people in this world reducing them to subsistence levels. Slave labor living in labor camps imported from poor countries such as Bangladesh and Pakistan are building the Dubai 'shining city'. Labor camps in China are producing cheap goods that are then shipped to mainly America. Most of our information technology is now being handled from India next door to Pakistan (a rogue nuclear nation). But yet while all this is going on we form "Home Land" security that cannot even secure our own borders. Your theory of behind the scene people pulling the strings is absolutely true. Only God's grace and our capability to discern the truth will see us through.
I ingest your thoughts with sublime pleasure.....although specifics are where it's at....the next step...the shining of light into the darkest of business dealings....who is the what of which you speak....i want to know he/she/they, what they eat, think, breathe, where their loyalties lay.....or maybe it's a tale best told through the power of fiction. who knows.

The Rich and Powerful have always done what ever they want to get and hold both Power and Wealth. It has been said the behind every great fortune lies a crime.
They try to control the Media, and the new Media called the Internet, they same way and for the same reasons they have controlled the Law, Courts, Governments and Armies in the past.
