I spied her pulling a small package up by her silken thread. It was bundled securely in her silk, she reminded me of a fishermen reeling in that big catch.
I had noticed her web before, just not her. She had been living under the large purple martin birdhouse in my backyard. Several feet in the air. Being me I had to have a closer look. That birdhouse sits on a telescopic pole so I lowered it.
And there she was right next to the bottom out of the sun and weather.

Wonderful darling that she is, she was eating a yellow jacket. How thoughtful of her.

I named the one in the front yard Freda so I'll name her Beatrice. Unfortunately I damaged her web when I lowered the birdhouse. So I've given her some work to do. It is amazing how strong the thread is in a web this size. Not to mention how complex they are. A true natural engineering marvel.

doesn't bother me so much OUTSIDE but we are seeing some pretty darn big ones down here in the basement.
She is pretty, although I doubt the bugs she catches thinks so.

Your pictures are very good, I can't say beautiful, LOL, but you really got some good shots.
Spiders are useful critters, I just worry about the brown recluse that one is bad news and inflicts major pain and hassle and hospital time.
