Late Summer Wildflowers at Mattoon Pond

We finally started to walk at the ponds again. After losing most of his fishing buddies William wasn't too big on going there.

It was a nice change to our recent routine. Also a great chance to photograph things that interest me. Like the late summer wildflowers.

I'm unsure of the pretty yellow daisies name but they grew close to the waters edge.

A closer look.

Maybe a vetch or a penstemon ?

Anyone know ?

Chicory

I think these roses where planted here when it was a home site.

Common Button weed.

Oxeye Daisy

A type of thistle.

Common Knapp weed.

Cats Ear bloom the size of a thumb nail.

Sweet White Clover the bees love this.

Maybe Hill Lotus looks like a yellow sweet pea.

Yes, so many think of wildflowers as a spring phenomenon but there are wonderful summer and autumn ones as well. Good macros, Vivian.

So many pretty little wildflowers. Great shots, Vivian. I noticed quite a few on my hike in the woods late yesterday afternoon. They always bring a smile to my face.
