My mountain ash and apple trees are really pretty this time of year. With the fruit ripening and turning red I think it's just as pretty as in the spring when they both flower.

Birds love my mountain ash. Not just because of the feeders I've hung there, but because of all the limbs for perching on. Plus after a hard freeze many love to feast on it's berries.

The hummingbirds will rest here between battles over the feeder I have nearby.

Jays like to hide among it's branches and chatter.

Papa Sparrow brings his offspring teaching them where food is plentiful.

I love having my breakfast out on the deck. The entertainment here is awesome. Lots of music and always there's drama.

The apples will be ready soon. I always leave some to soften for the birds.

The colors are festive.

The mountain ash with the weeping birch behind it. The trees all lean here because of the wind. Oh and my clothes line as well.

The morning light through the branches is beautiful.

The different textures are appealing to the eye.

The mountain ash has a bumper crop of berries this year.

Same with the apple. Here a female house finch enjoys the view from a limb.

A male house sparrow likes the secure feeling of the ashes leaves and berries. Looks like he is molting his summer feathers.

I can't get over seeing the hummingbird perched in the tree. Our little guys jump on a magnolia tree once in a while but never stay long enough for a photo.
How lucky you are to have this right in your own backyard.
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
Thanks Mini
We can grow apples here, but I miss the Mt. Ash. My mother had the most beautiful complexion even as an older woman. She swore it was because she preserved the juice of the Mt. Ash berries and used the juice all year long as her astringent after cleansing. (She froze the juice in ice cube trays. Kept the cubes in zip lock bags in the freezer, and then used these one at a time to avoid contamination of the juice by bacteria.) I wish I had access to Mt. Ash now, I'd do the same. I use aloe juice instead, but it is not quite as clarifying as the marvelous Mt. Ash.
Thanks Natalie I am honored
