How do you take good pictures of fireworks?

My camera has a setting for fireworks- I'll try it out this year and see what happens.

I don't know but would like to know, I think I will check back later to see the responses. I have never gotten a really good picture of fireworks, I don't think, and they are beautiful.

I tried my firework setting last night and I ended up deleting all the pictures I took using it. I got the best pictures from my auto setting.

I didnt find it very easy to get good ones, because of the delay on digital cameras. Very hard to time and be ready in just the right spot.

I just checked my settings on my camera and I have the choices of low light scene without flash or without flash in low light reducing blur. Any ideas which I should use or what the difference is between these settings?

buy a camera that has a fireworks setting. what camera do you have i can read more about it and possible give you some ideas as to what to try, oh and you need a tripod for the fireworks too

I used, like 15 years ago, a Pentax K1000 with Kodak 1000 speed film. I think the setting was on 25, the lowest or next to the lowest, and I had to lie down on the earthen dike to even hold the camera still.

I got some good photos though for it being an experiment.
