Today is the fourth day a blue/brown bird has been flying into my patio door. I thought maybe it was because the vertical blinds were open so I closed them, - well, 'no can do'.....he continues to fly into the door. He and another blue/brown bird have been flying all around since Sunday, (I have lots of birds flying around, my hubby calls this 'bird haven', but only this one is acting strangely) - they sit on the deck rails, on top of two different birdhouses and sit on the roof of my carport, I really thought there may be some babies birds in the houses but I looked (as best as I could) and saw nothing. He is not just flying into the door, - he knows what he is doing, -- this is no way an accident! He will fly to the back of my patio chair, stop, then into the door. He also flies into the screen and just 'sits' there. He has even 'somehow' stayed on the glass door as if he were attached there! I sprayed water on the door thinking he would not be able to "stick" to the glass if it were wet but they did not do any good. I can hear him hitting the glass door from other rooms in my home so that tells you how hard he is hitting it. I have cleaned the back of my patio chair five times, the glass table four times (where he has 'pooped') and my patio doors numerous times! Did you know that bird 'poop' is very hard to clean,--- I have scrubbed and scrubbed the chair and I can still see that white poop! (This is the chair my hubby sits in so it really does not matter) LOL!! I thought at some point it would 'knock' him out but he is as 'strong' as ever! I am really getting tired of watching him 'beat' himself up and I am very tired of cleaning my deck, chairs, table and glass! Also, I have a hummingbird feeder at the patio doors and I have only seen one hummingbird, one time at this feeder since this bird has started acting bonkers!! If any of my "gather bird experts" can give me any advice I really would appreciate it. (He is 'showing out' as I am typing this article)!! I have included photos of his activity!! NOTE: Some of the pictures are not too good, as he was moving very fast and I was having a hard time tryng to stay up with him and also, some shots are through the glass door and screen! Sorry, but I hope you get 'the picture' (no pun intended) as to how this bird is acting funny!!!!

Wow Janet thanks so much for looking up this bird....I have seen both birds together a few minutes ago and I really believe this one must be the female, - it is smaller than the other one. I know it is hard to tell but in the photo with the two birds on the roof the one on the left is smaller and he the one "puttin on the show"!!
Well instead of me calling him a he, - he is a she!!!! LOL
Moggy, - I am going to have to call someone, --- I do not want him/her to kill itself! I do believe it is a female from what Janet has stated!
Does he see something in your house that he might be trying to get to?
Or is he just a bird on CRACK?? ha ha ha
Someone else on gather had a similar problem with birds......and they were given some good advice...I wish I could remember what it was, but the advisor had used it themselves....hope they find this article and help again
Like that one Phyllis.....seeing birdies? LOL
Thanks so much Deborah, - I replied to your email (matter of fact it went twice, both times stated error but I saw it under my 'sent'!!
Secondly, a couple of your pictures made me want to throw up, they're that good. Birds with flapping wings scare the crap out of me. I'd show these pictures to my husband when he gets home so he could ID the bird for you, (and I know he could) but then I'd have to look at the pictures again and I might lose control of my bladder. There aren't enough Poise Pads to keep me dry in that eventuality.
Third, I know what he's trying to do. The bird wants to come into your house and kill you. Yes, I said kill you. Birds are evil. Dead birds are just as bad. He'll kill you by pecking your eyes out, flapping his wings at you, touching you with his creepy, scaly feet and then pooping on you. I truly understand the evils of bird poop.
I can't take the garbage out for a few more weeks because there's a killer robin in a nest by our garbage shed. I won't risk death for trash removal.
Go outside and assess the "bird's-eye view" of windows. Look at anything that would give birds the impression that there is no barrier at the window glass.
Put inexpensive stick-on silhouettes of hawks, falcons or owls on outside of window.
Hang plants, streamers, wind chimes, or other objects outside the window.
Move feeders away from large picture windows.
Put a barrier of garden netting outside the window. This is most effective if firmly mounted about a foot away from the glass.
Birds are like that, you know.
Thanks so much for posting this to
my group
Those are some amazing pictures that you got of the birdie gone wild.
He understood my trauma and bought me a bottle of wine. My liver thanks you.
i haven't a clue what's going on... they are gonna knock themselves out...
or ruin your screen first... good luck... weird...

I called the Sherriff,s office, they said kill it. I opened the door just enough to put a broom handle tto one side and thought if I hit it it would go away. I had a concrete slab patio and could not take the chance of a bullet rickocheting so I could not shoot it. I called the game warden he was no help either. So I guess I finally hit him hard enough on the next lunge toward my door to make him run farther away before the next lunge which would have broken my door. I stuck the gun out the crack and shot him three times with buck shot. That was really scary. So just watch this bird carefully.
Lynn - I will pass the message to Ina, - I must admit a little wine does calm the nerves, - this birdie ordeal has really had my nerves 'torn-up'!!
Mariana I love birds, - I have probably 30 or more birdhouses in my yard and I buy more bird seed and corn for the squirrels than I do dog food. I wash and clean out 3 birdbaths a day, - adding fresh water sometimes 3 times a day!! Watching birds happens to be one of my hobbies and one since I was a child, - just since I have retired I lots of time to devote to it. I have watched the way birds react when severe weather and hurricanes are a threat to our area but none have ever done this. BTW, I have even been watching and listening more to the Weather Channel just to see if 'something' is brewing!!! LOL I have had birds fly into my windows and glass doors on a regular basis BUT not one that just steady flies into the door, then back to the table and back to the door............I am concerned about his neck (and body too). Matter of fact as I am typing this I am watching six birds playing on my deck and two eating from the ground where the corn has dropped from the squirrel feeder. As stated in my article, my husband calls our place 'bird haven' because of all the birds around our home, ---I do love birds but I do not want one landing on my head (poop is hard to clean up).
Couple friends have told me the bird could possibly be sick, - just to watch him/her and see if it starts behaving more differently!!
I'd love for you to post this photo essay to *My Bird Macro* !
Rick - I have thought about this one million times, - oh now makes one million and one!! LOL
Phyllis, you have heard it all by now - hope your birdy wises up and goes back to living its bird life...
Maybe try hanging wind chimes by there to keep it away.
Good luck
and entertaining comments :)
Thanks for posting this to All Photo Essays Here!!
I have noticed the bird is flying around more in this area (around the deck, top of house) but not (thank God) beating himself up against the glass.
Again, I want to thank each of you for your comments and concerns, - several of you have sent me emails with your concerns and advice and I certainly do appreciate each one!! My gather friends are the greatest and smartest, - it is great to be 'associated' with each of you..................YOU ALL ARE THE BEST!!!!
Sandra - I died laughing at your comment, - all I can see are those two birds in the commercial laughing their heads off at the man walking into the glass door!!! (HeeHee)
V - I have only seen it once today, - hopefully this 'entertainment' is over.....you know I love birds but this is too much!! LOL
;-)
hope you had a nice weekend... love you... take care my friend...

Or he's watched Alfred Hitchcock movies and is looking to scare the poop out of you. lol
To give you some peace after Ina's dire predictions, just remember that a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush :-) [Don't even know what that means but it sounds good and fits the theme.....]
I bet it does keep your mind off your ankle though...maybe a plastic owl or snake could keep it scared away.
Try putting some type of deterant out there. Maybe a plastic owl (I've seen those on top of buildings to keep pidgeons away) or maybe some type of moving object. Maybe hanging strips of streamers/crepe paper from the eaves of the house will scare it off.
You could always borrow a few neighborhood cats. That would be a whole different show in itself. lol
