Orchid Photo Essay

     I went to Selby Gardens in Sarasota Florida today. I live right around the corner from there, but haven't been there in years. My mom and I went and had a wonderful afternoon together, looking at the different gardens, trees, and especially the orchid displays! We loved it so much that we purchased a year membership, with unlimited visits 364 a year! (They are only closed on Christmas).

     I do hope you enjoy the orchids as much as we did!!   

These are just a handful of the orchids that they have at Selby Gardens! I will be posting a couple more photo essays about Selby over the next day or so as well, if anyones interested. Just keep a lookout!!

They did have the different names for all the orchids displayed as well...wish I could have wrote them all down and included them, but didn't think of it at the time!!

If anyone is ever in Sarasota Florida, and you enjoy plants, it's worth the $12.00 to get in. Hell, I thought the orchid display was worth it! It's not a huge place, but has a lot to look at, and is very beautiful. It's located off the bay as well. It took us about two hours to walk through the whole place.  (of course we stood around drooling over the orchids, and taking tons of photos, so it may take others a little less time to walk through!) LOL!!

Well, that's all for the orchids for now. I hope everyone enjoyed the photos! They sure did have a lot of different colors, and sizes. We saw teeny tiny orchids,the size of a small pill,  and some that were as big as my hand! They also have a little store at the end of the walk where they sell a large variety of orchids as well.

I have just finished the first 'chapter' in the Selby Gardens story!
