After years of ogling and drooling over the beautiful and powerful KitchenAid Mixer, I have finally been blessed with one! In my Christmas stocking this year was a note from my hubby, Jeff, stating that I could finally get a KitchenAid Mixer of my choice.
Well, I researched and boggled my mind with the various colors and models to choose from, debating on whether to go with a higher model refurbished Accolade with less accessories or a brand new Artisan with all the standard accessories. On first appearances, it seems the main difference is wattage - 400 vs. 325. After reading reviews, I decided the Artisan had plenty of power for me, was supposedly quieter than the Accolade, and I felt more comfortable not going down the refurbished route.
I was truly in love with the Cinnamon colored Accolade, though, and that color is not available in the Artisan (that I could find at least). I narrowed the Artisan down to either the Empire Red or the Cobalt Blue. In some pictures online, the Empire Red resembled the Cinnamon, but I was afraid it would turn out more of an orangey red and I knew that I would not want it. The cobalt blue looks more royal blue in a lot of pictures, (including the ones I took) but I decided on it anyway. In person it is a truly stunning color: dark and rich, verging on purple. I love it and cannot wait to get cooking with it! When I do, I will be sure to post the results on Gather.
Just take a look at my little beauty! I'm sure I will have many tasty years with this machine!

The picture really does not do justice to the color! It is a beauty!

It worked as well as a new one from the first day I bought it and it's STILL behaving like a brand new machine!
Evidently they take their refurbishing very seriously. ;o)
Congratulations on your new toy! ;o)
Enjoy!
Sue, you *deserve* a KitchenAid if you are any kind of serious cook at all! it isn't a treat! You will find how much better and more you can do with it, and yur family will benefit at the table!
As for attachments, the first one I got was the meat grinder mainly so I could take advantage of the sales on chuck roast etc. when it was cheaper than hamburger and also make cranberry relish, haroseth, chopped liver and the like. I just bought the pasta attachment recently but haven't used it yet.
Anyhow, that's my story and I'm stuck with it.
