I am a pretzel lover...but not so much a Jell-o lover...so when this recipe came across my counter I was thrilled!
Quick/Easy/Delicious..here goes!
Strawberry Pretzel Salad
1or2- 8oz bar softened cream cheese (the amount can be varied to taste)
2-8oz Containers Cool Whip Extra Creamy (thawed)
1-medium bag of Pretzles, salted--I have found that sticks or thin twists work best
2-15oz cans of Strawberry Pie Filling ( you may use your favorite flavor--blueberry.peach.apple--and I like Comstock Brand the best)
2/3 cup sugar
1 and 1/2-sticks melted margarine
Use pie filling can to crush pretzels in bag.
Melt Butter in microwave completely.
In a 9x13 baking dish, spread crushed pretzels over bottom and pour melted butter over crushed pretzels. Sprinkle all with sugar.
In mixing bowl combine Cool Whip and Cream Cheese with electric mixture until smooth but semi-firm.
Spread mixture evenly with spatula over pretzels.
Pour both cans of Pie Filling over the Cool Whip mixture and refrigerate 1-2 hours until "set".
Enjoy!!!

group and I will make it a group feature. I totally agree about Comstock - their cherries are the BEST! Try them the next time you make a cheesecake.
Michelle...thanks for the request...and I was always glad I had this recipe. I really am not quite sure where I got it from...but it's the dish that I am always "required" to make for family functions LOL
and yes Sheri...kids for the most part do love it :)
you're very welcome Edward....
