I recently finished "Speed of Trust" and was pleasantly surprised. I don't usually like business books about the "softer" side of work, because they always seem to be short on implementation details. I assumed this book would be the same way. Yes, trust is important, but HOW do I build it?
Covey did a great job of laying out why trust is an important aspect of business, and how to build and keep trust. In each chapter he provides specific questions that you should be asking, and examples of good answers.
My favorite chapter in the book was "Behavior #9: Clarify Expectations." It's a common problem that people in business think they are on the same page, when really they mean different things. By making expectations clear, you can prevent many of the disputes that arise later when one party thinks the other party has broken their committment.
Overall this is a great book with many practical applications. Much of what Covey written isn't the kind of thing we want to hear, but it is necessary if we want to be successful in life and in business.
