My magazine depleting adventure inspired this post because I found a contest entry and went online to enter it. While on Self.com I cruised around a little and ran into a poll that was interesting -- it got me thinking about myself and it also spurred this post. Thanks, Self.com!
All through middle school, high school & even after high school ... until just a few years ago, I never wore makeup.
People have always complimented me on my nice skin too and I always attributed it to the fact that I never covered my skin with foundation, blush or even anything on my eyes.
Now that I'm older though, for some reason I've felt the need to wear makeup. I think it started when I broke out with a weird rash on my chin. I was so frustrated and after trying everything to clear it up with no luck at all, I had to break down and buy some concealer so I could face the world.
After the concealer came some eyeshadow, even though I had no idea how to put it on! I've always had very small, deep set eyes with barely any eyelashes or eyebrows though and my best friend would always beg me to put some eye makeup on because she swore I'd love how it made my eyes look bigger.
Having Fibro really puts a damper on the 'ol' sleep department so I always have bags under my eyes and my skin is pale and I look sick all the time. I have to admit that my choice to wear a little makeup has really made a difference.
Now I know how to apply eyeshadow and occasionally I wear mascara and eyeliner. I finally purchased some lip stain and I'm amazed at how much more 'put together' and 'alive' I look.
Here is the poll I saw on Self.com that inspired this post. I chose "Depends on the occasion—but makeup in general isn’t always necessary." and was surprised that it wasn't the top answer.
What makeup must-have can you not leave home without?
This brings me to some questions:
How do YOU feel about makeup?
Do you wear a lot or do you wear nothing at all?
How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
What about the men in your life -- how does HE feel about makeup, does he like it, does he even care or notice when you wear it?
OK I think that's it for now!

How do YOU feel about makeup? I've always been a girly girl(although I do love my sports) and have worn at least a little makeup since I was about 13. I don't feel that I need it per se, but it does make me look slightly less dead.
Do you wear a lot or do you wear nothing at all? I go back and forth between the two. When I do it myself just for daily wear, not very much(I use a foundation/lotion combo, bronzer to help with the un-dead look instead of powder, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara when I can find it). Reading that it looks like a lot, but I don't cake it on or anything.) At bare minimum, I'll use just eyeliner, but I'm not the type who won't leave the house without makeup. When I'm at work or at a formal function, my makeup is usually done for me by one of the makeup counters in Macys(one of the major benefits to working in Macy's is that I can show up half-ready for work and have my makeup and hair done by my friends :) )
How old were you when you started wearing makeup? Like 13, but then I was just wearing neutral eyeshadows and lip gloss. Some days I still do that
What about the men in your life -- how does HE feel about makeup, does he like it, does he even care or notice when you wear it? My boyfriend could care less, although he does generally notice(it's hard not to when I come home from work and I have what appears to be skin-colored spackle on my face. He's seen me looking like a magazine cover and he's seen me without makeup. He only cares if I fall asleep on his shoulder and I actually get makeup on him, then the laundry becomes my problem.
For special occasions I wear more eye makeup and stronger lip color. I think it's fun.
