A comfortable bed and a good shower is all I need. I don't spend that much time in hotel rooms. I travel to enjoy the climate and the outdoors. I also rate hotels on Yelp.com.

Well, since we don't usually stay in hotel rooms, I don't have a clue what our 'musts' are. We don't get to take too many trips that require a hotel stay. We usually 'vacation' at the houses of relatives.

We do not stay in hotels/motels much. I now look for cabins or condos for our trips. I would rather be able to cook and have plenty of room to move about... So far they have been about the same price as a higher scale hotel, but MUCH nicer!!!

I don't stay in hotels often, and budget doesn't allow for some of the more pricey accomadations however I do require cable or satelite tv, fluffy pillows, and since I am cold natured extra blankets. I also require a nice sized bathtub because I prefer baths to showers. The next hotel room I stay in will be in May for my anniversary and am hoping it has a hot tub!

The MAJOR requirement when traveling with our three sons on cross-country trips has been a POOL, the bigger the better! We used to be able to cram into a room all together by bringing a foam pad (which also worked well for sleeping on top of luggage in the back of the van), but now that everyone is full size, we have to have a suite or two rooms, one for US and one for THEM.

I am not a snob per se, but lately after hearing about bed bugs, and ricin being in some of the more common hotels, I am beginning to be a bit more snobbish.

I'm not really a hotel snob, but I do like my hotel rooms to be clean. Also I like it when they have a continental breakfast and free wireless internet...

Wireless Internet access. Nothing adds quite as much value to a hotel as Internet access, for both business and pleasure-related purposes. (A microwave and a minifridge are also very good things, because it's much cheaper to buy food from a supermarket than to eat out.)

Besides the suites. I like for there to be a nice pool. Then a thing I have been really picky about is that they serve the free breakfast buffet. I love getting our moneys worth from those.

king size bed, pool, jacuzzi, bar, free breakfast, gift shop but i can live with all this and the bar and gift shop can come or go doesnt really matter

Nah I'm not picky. Cleanliness, as you already mentioned, it the only real dealbreaker. Well, besides obvious things like a bed and bathroom, but otherwise that would kind of defeat the point...
