If you go to Amazon's website, there is a place that you can check a Border's gift card balance so I'm assuming that you can use them there.

Lisa,

You can use your Borders Gift Cards online. If you are using multiple cards however, you will need to call their toll-free number and read the card numbers to them verbally. Placing an order over the phone (via the website) is identical to placing your order with your mouse.

Hi Lisa, from my experience (from other website though), they said you can expect to receive the gift card in 6-8 weeks (awfully long), but when I got it in less than 8 weeks I felt happy. Imagine if they said you can expect the gc in 2-3 days (will sound great), but after the 3rd day I'd be awfully feeling restless till I get them card. I am hoping Gather will do better than the other website. Hope this help. I like your idea of banking the points till near X-mas. GC will make wonderful stocking filler.

Yes you can use them online, but unfortunately I think you can only use one card per order if you do it online. I THINK you can use more than one if you place your order by phone.

I have recieved a borders gift card from my boss before and I used it on amazon. The only big thing was they needed a valid credit card to go with it.
Kevin knows it all so I would stick with what he says.

I have gotten my cards in about 2 weeks each time, maybe a few days more. That's nice to know about using amazon online. I am going to buy books for gifts also.
